ICYMI, here's our commentary on the quiet looming crisis on how the responsibility of funding Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) is impacting town budgets. This is is an excerpt from our July/August 2026 Financial Management issue of Talk of the Towns & Topics:

The State of New York, despite having a host of other reserve funds, currently does not allow towns to set aside money in a dedicated fund to cover that OPEB liability.
It has to be authorized through legislation. That's where you come in.
There's strength in numbers. We need to show a united front to bring about meaningful change in Albany to ensure that OPEB doesn't cause towns to plunge off that metaphorical fiscal cliff.

On Juneteenth, we celebrate the triumph of American liberty—the day in 1865 when the last enslaved Americans in Texas learned they were free.

Republicans led the fight to end slavery, from Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation to the 13th Amendment. Today, we honor that legacy by recommitting to equal opportunity, color-blind justice, & the unalienable rights endowed by our Creator.

True freedom means judging every American by character and content, not skin color.

United as one nation under God, we move forward.

What a fantastic evening!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Mendon Republican Committee Fundraiser last night!! From the great food and conversation to Terry Lee Goffee’s incredible Johnny Cash tribute, it was a night to remember.

Most importantly, it was wonderful to see so many neighbors, friends, and longtime Mendon families come together because they care about our community and its future.
