Sun City Library service began with a weekly bookmobile visit almost as soon as the first residents moved into the new Del Webb Seniors community in 1962, and by 1965 Riverside County leased a storefront of 1100 square feet for the first library. Three expansions brought the space to 4000 square feet by 1990, but this proved inadequate as population increased in the surrounding Menifee area. The C

ounty purchased a bank building, the Sun City Library Foundation raised $150,000 to furnish it, and a new library opened in December 1994. The present library of nearly 11,000 square feet was built on the site and dedicated in 2010. It is the principal library serving the now incorporated city of Menifee's 80,000 residents.

Today's special program was filled with amazement and curiosity as we marveled at exotic animals from beyond Menifee! We said hello to a friendly kinkajou, snake, opossum, and even an emotional support alligator!

The Sun City Library is a drop-off location for MilVet donations. Adopt-A-Troop or lend your support by bringing donations of non-perishable foods and/or hygiene items into the Sun City Library. Letters are also welcome.

Donations must have a minimum expiration date at least two months out. No glass or fragile items. For more details, please visit the military-care-packages page at MilVet[dot]org.
