This National Senior Citizens Day, we're celebrating the wisdom, resilience, and stories of our elders and the peace of mind that comes with staying in the community you love. 🧑

At PVI, we believe aging doesn't mean leaving home behind. Through compassionate support and tailored care services, we're helping seniors age in place with dignity, independence, and connection.

Join us in honoring the seniors in your life today and in building a future where everyone can thrive, right where they belong.

What a night! πŸŽ‰

A huge thank you to Dr. Ayati of Geriatrics Concierge for joining us at PVI's Adult Day Services at Rosener House. We dove into how sleep, or the lack of it, impacts the brain, especially for those living with dementia. Dr. Ayati answered questions, shared real insights, and helped us all walk away a little wiser.

And to everyone who came out, thank you. It's your support that keeps these workshops free and open to the community. We're already looking forward to the next one! πŸ’™

So proud of our community! πŸš—πŸ’™

We just wrapped our Driving Refresher Course with AARP, and it was such a meaningful few days together.

Getting older changes how we drive β€” it's just a fact. Medications affect us differently. Eyesight changes. Reaction times slow down. But none of that means we have to give up the wheel. It means we adapt, learn, and stay sharp.

Our course covered:

How aging affects driving (vision, meds, cognition, physical limits)
Defensive driving techniques for today's roads β€” yes, even those tricky roundabouts
New car safety tech and how to use it
Proper seat and mirror fit, airbags, and ABS
Building confidence so you can keep your independence longer
A huge thank you to AARP for partnering with us, and to every single person who came out to refresh their skills. You're an inspiration.

If you missed it, stay tuned β€” we're hoping to offer this again soon!

Dementia After Dark: Why Sleep Falls Apart and Strategies to Restore Rest

Sleep disturbances are common in people living with dementia and can affect both individuals and their caregivers. This informative presentation by Dr. Ayati of Geriatrics Concierge explores why sleep patterns change, including nighttime awakenings, sundowning, and disrupted sleep cycles, and shares practical strategies to promote better rest. Learn evidence-based, non-medication approaches to improve sleep, enhance safety, and support quality of life for both caregivers and those living with dementia.

What an amazing time we had with "Mother" Constance E. Smith as she took us back to when settlers made the journey West before the Gold Rush. This fun-fact-filled lecture, with props, kept us all engaged and excited to learn about history beyond what traditional textbooks teach.
If you missed this lecture, no worries! "Mother" Constance will be returning next month on September 15 to talk about the CA Gold Rush and what happened in the San Francisco, Sacramento & San Jose area.

πŸ“ˆ Over 70% of people age 60+ have high blood pressure. For those 75 and older, that number jumps to 81%.

🧠 Controlling blood pressure doesn't just protect your heart; it also protects your brain. Research has found that treating high blood pressure in older adults is linked to a lower risk of cognitive decline and even Alzheimer's disease.

We are grateful to our partners at the Sequoia Healthcare District for providing FREE blood pressure screenings every second Tuesday of the month for anyone who wants, right here at Little House.
