A couple weeks ago Menlo Park Fire stopped by 17 neighborhood events for National Night Out. We had such a great time, we were only able to take one photo. Thank you to everyone who was part of the experience with us. Till next year!

Good Samaritans Recognized for Heroic Actions.

At the Menlo Park Fire District Board Meeting this week, five community members were honored for their life-saving actions at a recent house fire. Employees of Bayshore Plumbing were working on a project on Willow Road when a nearby housefire started. Without hesitation, the men sprang into action to help. They started with removing obstacles and clearing the way ahead of first responders arriving. Some then started tackling the fire with a garden hose, limiting the spread before firefighters arrived. Lastly, one of the men went into the smoke-filled home to carry out a resident who had limited mobility. Their quick-thinking and willingness to help was admirable, and we are proud to honor these brave members of our community.

Update: Dog and Family Meet Rescuers!

After her harrowing adventure, Prieta and her grateful owner had the opportunity to meet some of the firefighters who rescued her at our board meeting this week. Firefighter Tyler, who scooped up Prieta from the Bay in one perfectly-timed move, was able to see her dry and much happier now in her owner’s arms. Also in attendance were firefighter crew: Seth, Dan, Carlos, and Alex plus drone operator Tom. Prieta’s owner was emotional as she expressed her gratitude to all of the rescuers who helped bring her beloved dog home after an especially difficult time in her life. She shared that she recently lost several close family members and was devastated when she thought she lost Prieta too. Those involved in her rescue were happy to see them reunited again and were grateful to have some time to connect under much better conditions. Happy ending for all!
