Sentencing on the Phillips-Donovan murder case this morning. 2 hours. VERY emotional for everyone, including me.
It was a tough day, but a great day. I consider it an absolute privilege to advocate on behalf of victims in this circumstance. This kind of end result is why I love my job; I think on some level God has placed me here for this purpose: to make a difference in the lives of people who need what I can do. The phone call I had with the widow this afternoon (she's a cancer patient and is recovering from COVID-19 and could not attend in person), is the all the "payment" I need to keep at it. And I adore my colleagues who helped along the way; they are an integral part of the mission of the the office. This kind of satisfaction doesn't come from a paycheck, or a title. So rewarding and fulfilling.
