Stock the Shelves, a long-standing partnership between Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, the USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin, and the Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions to raise money for local food pantries, raised enough funds to provide more than half a million meals to local families.

“Stock the Shelves has been a critical fundraising campaign for many years, and this year more than ever. We are thrilled to share that we’ve met our goal and will be able to provide nearly half a million meals,” said Patti Habeck, president and CEO of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. “I’m thankful to the community, the Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions, and the USA TODAY NETWORK publications for helping us not only fight hunger, but raise awareness of the issue of hunger in our neighborhoods.”

While the campaign ended in October, donations continued to come in through November. The most-recent total is $176,860, which includes a generous match from the Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions.

“When our Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions board was approached by our friends at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin on Stock the Shelves, we thought ‘can we have a “safe” golf outing and our credit unions backing this year?’ Between the outing and the generosity of almost all of our credit unions in all the counties we cover, we raised $42,000 as a match,” said Lynn Marie Hopfensperger, Community Development Officer at Fox Communities Credit Union. “That puts a lot of food in families bellies over this pandemic, and that’s what a credit union is all about.”

The Greater Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions also hosted four drive through food drives on October 17th, accepting non-perishable food and monetary donations. The events raised enough for 20,149 meals.

St. Vincent de Paul is home to the largest food pantry in our area, providing more than 98 tons of food and hygiene items to 1,000+ people in the past year alone. SVdP also operates a thrift store that provides a low-cost shopping alternative and offers direct support to people in need by giving away clothing, housewares, and furniture from store inventory.
SVdP is a Catholic lay grassroots organization. Their network of helping hands, extending across Marinette, Menominee and Oconto Counties, works to meet the immediate needs of our friends and neighbors living in poverty while jointly exploring solutions to the problem of poverty. Their mission aligns with this quote from St. Vincent de Paul, “There is no charity that is not accompanied by justice.”
“The pandemic has dramatically increased the need for assistance within our communities while also making it very challenging for SVdP to provide services. The consistent revenue from the endowment we hold will stabilize the SVdP operations for years to come,” stated Paula Gruszynski, MMACF Executive Director.
Tax-deductible contributions to the endowment fund may be made in the form of cash, stocks, bonds, and mutual funds; and from a 401k, IRA account, or life insurance policy.
For more information on donating to the fund, contact Paula Gruszynski at 906-864-3599 or visit www.mmacf.org/donate/

St. Vincent de Paul Menominee would like to thank all the volunteers, those who donated and everyone in our community who helped in any way to make distributing Christmas baskets a huge success.
170 families received large boxes of food containing everything necessary for Christmas meals and much, much more.

A big thank you to our local Saint Vincent de Paul society for putting together these wonderful Christmas Baskets to help make people’s holidays more joyous!

Did you know - last year we distributed over 170 Christmas Baskets to our neighbors in need? Please contact us if you are interested in making a monetary donation to help cover the costs involved. Any donations are welcome!
In the past, we have had businesses or individuals interested in covering the cost of a certain amount of baskets/families, covering the cost of the hams or another item in the basket, or simply a generalized donation towards our bottom line cost.
Thank you for your kindness and consideration, we couldn't do this without your help!
