Wedding season is in full bloom in Dunn County, and love is officially in the air.

Before you head to the altar and start practicing your “I do,” don’t forget one of the most important steps in getting legally hitched in Wisconsin: your marriage license.

The Dunn County County Clerk’s Office is here to help make your big day official. Couples can apply for a marriage license in any Wisconsin county, and there is a short waiting period before it becomes valid, so a little planning now helps avoid any last minute “we needed WHAT?” moments.

A few quick reminders
• Both applicants must apply together
• Bring proper identification and required documents
• Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days once issued

And if you stop into the office on the right day, you might just catch County Clerk Andrew Mercil in the office offering encouragement, paperwork assistance, and possibly a surprise wedding season tune. No guarantees on key or tempo, but the enthusiasm is included.

June in Wisconsin often brings rapidly changing weather conditions including thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds, and the potential for flash flooding. Staying aware and prepared is an important part of keeping our community safe during severe weather season.

Dunn County Emergency Communications 911 is available twenty four hours a day seven days a week to answer emergency calls and dispatch fire, law enforcement, and EMS when severe weather impacts our area. During storms, call takers are often managing a high volume of calls and provide critical support in real time.

Dunn County Emergency Management works year round to monitor weather threats, coordinate with local partners, and share timely safety information before, during, and after weather events. From storm preparedness planning to response coordination, their goal is to help residents stay informed and safe.

As we move through the summer months, now is a great time to review your severe weather plans, know your safe shelter locations, and ensure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

Take Action on Invasive Species

June is Invasive Species Action Month in Wisconsin, a reminder of the importance of protecting Dunn County’s land, water, and native wildlife from the impacts of invasive species.
Invasive plants, animals, and pests can spread quickly and outcompete native species, disrupting ecosystems and recreational spaces. Prevention and early action are key to limiting their spread.

How you can help?
Clean boats, trailers, and outdoor gear after each use
Do not move firewood or bait between locations
Plant native species when possible
Report invasive species sightings to the Wisconsin DNR
Stay on designated trails to avoid spreading seeds and plant material
