This National Recovery Month, Dunn County Treatment Court is celebrating a very special milestone: our 80th Treatment Court graduation since the program began in 2008!

Today, we celebrate a graduate whose journey shows what can happen when a person is given the opportunity, support, accountability, and time to make lasting change.

Her success also reflects the power of community. Treatment providers, law enforcement, mentors, the Treatment Court team, family, friends, and many others walked alongside her. Together, they provided the support and accountability she needed to address the root causes of her behaviors and build a different future. She did the hard work. True change takes time.

She went from losing everything in active addiction to rebuilding the life she has today. Along the way, she has achieved 856 consecutive days of sobriety, maintained full time employment, secured safe and stable housing, regained her ability to legally drive, and continued building a life rooted in recovery.

Her story is a powerful reminder that recovery is possible, even when the road is difficult. Change doesn’t happen overnight. Lasting recovery takes commitment, support, accountability, and time.

Every Treatment Court graduation tells a different story. Each person enters the program with their own experiences, struggles, and reasons for being here. But every graduation carries the same powerful message: Recovery is possible. Change is possible. A different life is possible.

Congratulations to Patrick Fox, who recently earned his High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED)!

Patrick’s accomplishment represents hard work, determination and a commitment to reaching an important goal. Earning an HSED can open doors to employment, continued education and new opportunities for the future.

Education classes are offered at the Dunn County Jail on Mondays and Wednesdays. In addition to working toward an HSED, students can take a variety of certificate courses designed to build practical skills and help prepare them for employment.

These educational services are made possible through our partnership with Literacy Chippewa Valley. Thank you to everyone involved in providing education, encouragement and opportunities for students to take that next step.

Beginning November 1, 2026, certain court and Sheriff’s Office fees will increase statewide under 2025 Wisconsin Act 179.

The changes affect several services, including civil and small claims filings, family court motions, probate matters, occupational license petitions, court record searches and Sheriff’s Office service fees.

These increases are established by state law and are not set by Dunn County. The amount charged will depend on the type of case or service requested.

Dunn County has two tax-foreclosed properties available for sale by sealed bid:
• N13394 County Road I, Sand Creek - Minimum bid: $20,000
• 1326 Ballentine Road, Menomonie - Minimum bid: $45,000

Both properties are currently uninhabitable, require extensive repairs and are being sold as is.

Sealed bids must be received by the Dunn County Corporation Counsel’s Office no later than 4:00 pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

Not all child support cases receive case management services. Understanding whether your case is IV-D or Non-IVD can help you know what assistance is available and when fees may apply.

IV-D cases receive case management services from the Dunn County Child Support Agency.
A case is IV-D when:
- A parent or guardian applies for child support services
- The family is referred because it receives certain forms of public assistance
- The agency assists with locating parents, adjudicating legal paternity, establishing, reviewing, and/or enforcing court orders for financial support and health insurance

A Non-IVD case with court orders in place does not receive case management or enforcement services from the Child Support Agency.
A case is Non-IVD when:
- Neither parent has applied for child support services
- Public assistance is not being expended
- A parent who formally received public assistance declines ongoing case management services
- The court order is for spousal support only (which is ineligible for IV-D services)

Child and spousal support are paid through the Wisconsin Support Collections Trust Fund in both IV-D and Non-IVD cases. The Child Support Agency sends income withholding orders to employers on IV-D cases as part of its ongoing case management, whereas Non-IVD case participants can pay a $35 Non-IVD fee for income withholding services from the Child Support Agency.
