🎓 Congratulations, Owen Rydel!

Owen has always been a builder at heart — from countless childhood hours spent outdoors constructing whatever came to mind, to who he is today: someone who's always dreaming up his next project. He's a graduate of Boyceville High School and the recipient of both the Bruce Schley/Roger Brunn Memorial Scholarship and the Peoples State Bank Scholarship. This fall, he's studying Construction Management.

"Since a young age, I've always been an outdoorsy kid who loved sports and making my own fun. I would spend countless hours with friends building whatever came to mind. That translates to who I am today, always forming my own projects and creating new things."

Here's to you, Owen! We're cheering you on as you head into construction management this fall. 💛

🎓 Congratulations, Loralie Swenby!

Loralie has a clear mission ahead of her: becoming an Attorney Guardian ad Litem, advocating for children under 18 who often have no voice in legal proceedings. That passion for protecting the most vulnerable has shaped both her academic path and her future career. She's a graduate of Boyceville High School and the recipient of both the William & Leona Amundson Memorial Scholarship and the BEST Academic Scholarship. This fall, she's pursuing a Family Law major with a Psychology minor.

"I have chosen to major in Family Law and minor in Psychology because I plan to become an Attorney Guardian ad Litem. I will advocate for children under the age of 18, who often lack a voice in legal proceedings. My passion for helping children has guided both my academic and professional goals, and I am committed to serving the most vulnerable."

Karen's curiosity has never stopped at the local level — she's always been drawn to understanding the world at large. That curiosity is exactly what led her to International Studies, a broad degree that lets her keep her options open while she figures out what's next. She's a graduate of Boyceville High School and the recipient of the BEST Academic Scholarship. This fall, she's heading to Carleton College to study International Studies.

"I have always been extremely interested in the world around me, and not just the local one. A degree in International Studies will allow me to deepen my knowledge of the subject base as a whole. It is a pretty broad degree, but I like to keep my options open for the future while also furthering my education."

Johanna has been inspired by people in the medical field throughout her life, and that inspiration has turned into a genuine passion — she wants a career built around positively impacting others. She's a graduate of Boyceville High School and the recipient of both the Alan J. Carlson Memorial Scholarship and the BEST Academic Scholarship, pursuing a future in nursing.

"I decided to pursue nursing as a career because I have been inspired by many people in the medical field throughout my life, and the medical field is an area that I am very passionate about. I have always wanted to have a career that will positively impact the lives of others."

🎓 Congratulations, Halle Tonn!

"I quickly understood that caring for others isn't just about making sure they are meeting their basic needs like food, water, and shelter. To me, caring for people is making them feel joy and comfort in difficult and stressful times."

Halle found that outlook at just sixteen, working at a small nursing home — a job that sparked what's become a real passion for nursing. She's a graduate of Boyceville High School and the recipient of both the Janell Clark Johnson Memorial Scholarship and the BEST Academic Scholarship. This fall, she's heading to Chippewa Valley Technical College for her Nursing Degree.

Whoever ends up in Halle's care is fortunate. Congratulations, and good luck this fall! 💛

🎓 Congratulations, Chelsi Holden!

You get out of life what you put into it. That's been Chelsi's mindset through every rigorous class, every extra hour at practice, every moment she chose to step up when others didn't. It's carried her through academics, athletics, leadership, and service alike. She's a graduate of Boyceville High School and the recipient of both the Jared Schutz Memorial Scholarship and the BEST Academic Scholarship. This fall, she's heading to Viterbo University to study Biology.

"I have always believed that you get out of life what you put into it, and that mindset has shaped the way I approach academics, athletics, leadership, and service. Throughout high school, I have pushed myself to go beyond what is required, whether that meant taking rigorous coursework, committing extra time to athletics, or stepping up when others did not."

The Wilson Place Mansion is celebrating its 50th anniversary! As part of the celebration, they created the Time Capsule Project, which has the mission to connect our past, present, and future in Menomonie.

A Letter to the Future

As part of the Wilson Place Museum's 50th Anniversary Celebration, we're inviting the community to become part of Menomonie's history through our new Time Capsule Project.

For $10, you can purchase a Time Capsule Packet and choose to leave your mark on the future by writing a letter to:

* Your Future Self — opened in 2036
* Future Family Members — opened in 2076
* Future Residents of Menomonie — opened in 2126

Participants will also have the opportunity to contribute to The Voices of Menomonie, a special collection of recorded memories, stories, and reflections from community members. Using our recording station, you can share your voice and preserve a personal message for future generations.

Tell future generations about your life, your family, your hopes, your favorite places, or what Menomonie is like in 2026.

Imagine someone opening your letter—or hearing your voice—decades from now and discovering a firsthand glimpse of life today.
