🐐 WANTED: The Owner of One Elusive Goat 🐐

The Dunn County Sheriff's Office is currently attempting to identify and locate the owner of a goat that has apparently decided to take an extended vacation in the Elk Mound area.

Over the past couple of weeks, this four-legged fugitive has been spotted near:

620th Ave.
640th Ave.
STH 40

At this time, the goat has declined all requests for identification and has not provided a forwarding address.

If this wandering suspect belongs to you, please contact the Dunn County Sheriff's Office so we can coordinate its safe return and begin negotiations regarding its peaceful apprehension.

We would prefer to reunite the goat with its owner before it expands its territory, starts paying property taxes, or runs for local office.

If you have information regarding the identity of this roaming ruminant, please give us a call.

Case Status: Outstanding
Suspect Description: Beard, hooves, questionable decision-making skills, known to frequent rural roadways.

🚁 PUBLIC NOTICE 🚁

The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting drone training in the Hoffman Hills area until approximately 8:00 PM this evening. You may notice deputies, patrol vehicles, and drones operating in the area during that time.

There is no emergency and no active incident.

Drone technology has become an important tool for law enforcement and public safety. Drones assist deputies with search efforts, missing persons cases, crash and crime scene documentation, locating suspects, disaster response, and providing safer situational awareness during critical incidents.

Regular training helps our operators stay proficient so they can safely and effectively use this equipment when the community needs it most.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while training is conducted

Happy Administrative Professionals Day to the real MVPs of the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office-our Administrative Professionals!

They somehow manage to:

-answer phones that never stop ringing
-keep our paperwork from becoming a federal disaster
-translate vague requests from deputies like “Hey… can you help me find that one thing from that one case from a while ago?”
-and politely remind us when we forgot something we were definitely told about already.

Thank you for keeping our office organized, functional, and stopping deputies from wandering up to your desks asking, “Do you know where my paperwork is?” when it was sitting on their desk the whole time.. We appreciate everything you do!

Happy Administrative Professionals Day!

Construction to close segment of WIS 85 in Dunn County
Closure to be in place for up to 50 working days; traffic to be detoured via US 10, WIS 37

A segment of WIS 85 will be closed to through traffic at 7 a.m. Monday, April 27 as construction begins on a resurfacing project from just west of the north junction of County O to approximately 2,100 feet west of 1010th Street in Dunn County.

The highway will be closed for up to 50 working days when work begins, and through traffic will be detoured via US 10 and WIS 37. Once WIS 85 reopens to traffic, remaining work will be completed with lane closures controlled by flagging.

Access to businesses and residences in the work zone will be maintained, but temporary driveway closures will be necessary during parts of construction. Project staff will contact property owners in advance of closing a driveway.

Construction is scheduled for completion in mid-August.
