MFD is so very sorry to hear this news. Our thoughts are with Chris’ family, friends, and the Durand Fire Department during this difficult time.

With profound and heartfelt sadness, we have to announce the passing of Firefighter Chris J. Bates. Chris joined the Durand Fire Department in 2007, served as a Lieutenant and Training Officer on the department and was a current Senior Member. Chris was an amazing firefighter and US Marine Veteran. More importantly he was a brilliant husband, father and grandfather to his family. Rest easy brother, we’ll take the watch from here. Godspeed Chris Bates.

Tonight your Paid on Call Firefighters trained on high angle rescue using a rescue tripod, ropes and rigging equipment on the Station 2 hose tower and from the Ladder 4 platform. Teams simulated raising a patient from a multi-story fall. Battalion Chief Mucks and the duty crew did an excellent job running the training scenarios.

In the meantime:

We’ll be here if you need us, hopefully just watching the storm roll through 👀
