Hello friends, Mentone Fire is now selling barbecue butts for our fall fundraiser. This year the yard sale falls on the second Saturday in August which will be the 9th we will be set up at station 1 in Mentone, as always and also selling barbecue sandwiches and hotdogs with chips, pickle and a drink. Please message or call me or any other member of the department to get your whole butt ordered before we sell out. They will be the same price as last year 50$ each. Sincerely thank you to all that comes out and helps put this event on and to all who comes out and supports us !

Pray for the best but prepare for the worst

Hello everyone from Mentone Fire .
I would like to start by saying, it looks like the weather is definitely going to be something to worry about Friday into Saturday. Number 1 you have 2 days to prepare yourself for the event, so don’t start panicking
Number 2 if we just get 2-4 inches of snow we can still get around in 4x4s just fine and your power will probably not go off
Number 3 if you have electric plug in the walls heaters DO NOT plug them in an extension cord, that creates heat, please plug them straight into the walls so you don’t have to call us
Number 4 if you have an emergency call 911 not me or city hall or anybody else because 911 sends us, DAS, police and anyone else that is needed
Number 5 don’t be afraid to call, it’s what we are here for but remember we are volunteers and we have family that we are leaving behind to come help you
Number 6 remember we have no control in the weather and if it gets bad, it may take us longer to get to you. So if you see or smell smoke in your house, or actually something on fire, call 911 then determine if you need to leave the house or if you can simply extinguish the fire safely.
Always let 911 know who all is in the house
Number 7 if you need a generator to run your oxygen or any other life or death type equipment then call us we can help
Number 8 don’t call us to bring a generator to power your tv or video game,we’re not going to
Number 9 as I said in the first one you have 2 days
Mentone fire dept hopes for the best but prepares for the worst
May the Good Lord look after each and everyone of us and remember if you need help don’t ever be afraid to call, we always would rather run a false alarm than something bad
