Mentor on the Lake Police is incredibly grateful to Marco's Pizza for their continued generosity and willingness to pair up with us each year for our Christmas program. Since LT. Messinger created Santa's Blue Helpers in 2015, Marco's has raised just under $5,000 to contribute to the program!!! That money has assisted us in taking 163 children of Mentor on the Lake shopping!!!! Marco's not only does a fundraiser for us each year, but they also donate the yummy pizza for the party that is held for the children before they are escorted to Target to shop. Thank you, Marcos, thank you to the community members that contributed by ordering from Marcos on Tuesday night, and thank you to the employees that graciously donated their hard-earned tips to assist us in aiding others. This program would not be successful without the support from all of you!!!!!

We had the privilege of meeting with Lieutenant Tina Messinger today to present her with a check in the amount of $1029.63, which were the proceeds from our Marco’s Pizza fundraiser to benefit the Santa’s Blue helpers program. The money was realized by a percentage of our sales along with some cash donations. Of those donations, we were extremely grateful for two very generous $100.00 donations. This amount was a record for us over the past seven years, which we couldn’t have achieved without the great support of the citizens that make up the community of Mentor on the Lake. To those who placed orders, thank you. Every order, large or small helped grow our donation. And to those who made cash contributions, from pocket change to foldable bills, thank you. You all helped make a difference for a child’s Christmas.
Our team is proud to have raised $4929 for Santa’s Blue Helpers during the past seven years. Lt. Messinger and the Mentor on the Lake Police Department do wonderful work with this program, and Marco’s Pizza is grateful to play a part in its success.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at approximately 1720 hours, Mentor on the Lake Police Department responded to Marcs, 5929 Andrews Road, for a report of suspicious behavior. It was reported that an elderly male had engaged in communication with a younger juvenile female who was accompanied by her mother inside the store. The caller felt that the male may have been attempting to entice the juvenile. At this time, our department is investigating the incident, and it is unknown if there was any criminal intent. The juvenile was not harmed and never vacated the store with the male. If you have any information regarding this incident or other similar incidents in nature, please contact our department at 440-257-7234 and request to speak with Ptl. Bradic. Thank you.

On Friday, 11/24/23, Mentor on the Lake resident of 70 years, Gene, was surprised by family members and members of the community. Gene is 88 years of age and planted a sapling 40 years ago at his residence on Thunderbird Drive. The sapling was brought home from school by his grandson on Arbor Day. The tree now stands approximately 40 feet tall! Gene has had a dream of having lights placed on this tree for decades and finally his dream was made a reality from the help of others:-) Donations were made for lighting and for the first time ever the tree was decorated and lit! Gene was overwhelmed with emotion seeing the tree strung with lights for the first time. Sgt. Daubenmire captured a couple of photos as the tree was lit Friday evening.

Spuddy's Tavern, located right here in Mentor on the Lake, has always teamed up with our department in raising funding for our Santa's Blue Helpers Program. This year, on Friday December 8, at 8:00pm, they will be holding a 50/50 drawing to raise money for our event. Tickets can be purchased at Spuddy's Tavern from now until the drawing date. Winner does not need to be present. Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00!!!!

Lake County Crime Prevent won again at the 24th Mocktail for RB&C/Safe Kids Coalition. Thanks to Eastlake PD, LCSO, Lake Metroparks Rangers, Mentor PD, Mentor on the Lake PD, and Madison Township PD for their work! This year’s theme was Clue with the Cluetini. Sgt. Daubenmire participated and acted as Professor Plum.

Messinger, Mayor Dave Eva, and Bryan Skaricich, along with the entire Mentor on the Lake Safety Forces, appreciate each and every one of you who came out to see us today at Marcs for our 9th annual Fill a Cruiser event. We are humbled by the communities generous donations that raised over $800.00 for our Santa's Blue Helpers program. We received a large amount of non perishable food items which will replenish the shelves of the Mentor Plains United Methodist Church's food pantry. These generous donations provided by our community will help so many families this holiday season. THANK YOU ALL!
