Residents are advised that Aqua will begin their annual system flushing beginning today, March 24, 2025.

No interruptions in water service will occur as a result of the flushing but customers may notice water pressure fluctuations or temporary water discoloration.

If possible, customers should refrain from doing laundry to avoid staining while the flushing is taking place near their home. If tap water is discolored, allow it to run until clear. Running several cold-water faucets at the same time will help the water clear faster.

GIFT CARDS ARE FOR GIFTS ONLY
It’s critical to remember that no legitimate business, government agency, or utility company will ever demand payment through gift cards or cryptocurrency. Such requests are a glaring red flag.

Scams targeting seniors are escalating at an alarming rate, leaving countless victims in their wake. Mentor detectives report receiving two to three complaints weekly, but this barely scratches the surface on the real problem. It is estimated that up to 87%

The Realty Investment Company was the largest holder of downtown Cleveland real estate at the turn of the 20th century. Like many prominent Cleveland businessmen of the time, company president Ralph King owned an estate in Lake County. It was located at the end of Little Mountain Road and was known as “the Pinery”.

In addition to his business dealings, King was a renowned philanthropist who served as a trustee of the Western Reserve University and the Western Reserve Historical Society. Perhaps more notably, he also served as vice president of the Cleveland Museum of Art and was a major supporter. In fact, he and his wife donated 870 items to the museum including Rodin’s “Thinker”.

King passed away in 1926, but area residents are still reminded of his legacy. In appreciation of his profound impact on the community, Lake and Geauga County officials honored him in 1928 with the renaming of Blish Road to King Highway. Today, it is known as King Memorial Road.

The easiest way to avoid getting scammed is just hanging up. If something doesn’t sound right, it isn’t. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. The biggest giveaway is when the scammer tells you that you need to act RIGHT NOW or something bad will happen.

Protect yourself against scammers by just hanging up. If in doubt, get a trusted friend or relative involved or the call the Mentor Police Department at 440-255-1234.

Scams targeting seniors continue to be on the rise with Mentor detectives receiving an average of two to three reports per week, but it’s only the tip of the iceberg. According to the Federal Trade Commission, older Americans reported losing more
