One of the most significant obstacles to high school students being able to participate in the Junior Leadership Program is transportation: getting to program day locations and then home again. Thanks to the generosity of partners Lakeland Community College and Laketran, we have a solution!

Program days will start and end at the President's Corner at Lakeland Community College and are accessible by Laketran's fixed routes for free due to their GO program and EXfare app. When necessary, Leadership Lake County will also be able to utilize Laketran's Dial-a-Ride service for program participants.

"Lakeland Community College is proud to serve as the central hub for the Junior Leadership Program," said Sunil Ahuja, Ph.D., President of Lakeland Community College. "Opening our doors provides these promising young leaders with a welcoming space to connect and collaborate. This partnership perfectly aligns with Lakeland's mission to foster community growth and education, and we are thrilled to team up with Leadership Lake County and Laketran to help remove the transportation barrier and make these life-changing opportunities accessible to every high school student in our region."

"Public transportation does more than move people—it connects them to education, career pathways, and opportunities that shape their future," said Laketran President Brian Falkowski. "This partnership demonstrates what's possible when organizations come together to remove barriers for our youth. We're proud to work alongside Leadership Lake County and Lakeland Community College to make this program accessible to more students throughout Lake County. By investing in young leaders today, we're helping build a stronger workforce and brighter future for Lake County."
