Our Lake County Free Clinic Community Impact Project Team is looking for dental professionals to give the gift of time ⏰

Do you know a dental professional who could volunteer a few hours per month to provide basic oral care services to uninsured clients?🦷

This giving Tuesday, we’re asking dental professionals for the gift of TIME! Did you know that we rely on licensed dentists to volunteer their time—even a few hours a month— so that we can provide basic oral care services to the uninsured clients who come to our clinic? Currently, we have a dental rotation on most Tuesdays and Fridays, but our waiting list for basic patient dental care extends well into January! We are looking for a few more dentists to help us round out our calendar - if this is you and you can help contribute 4-8 hours a month it would be a huge help! Give us a call at 440-352-8686 and ask for Dana or Stephanie to get the conversation started. Thank you!

“There are two different types of leaders. A person can either be like a thermometer or a thermostat. A thermometer will tell you what the temperature is. A thermostat will not only tell what the temperature is, but it’ll move you to the temperature you need to get to,” —Kevin McCarthy

On Monday, our Community Builders Class learned all about being a thermostat. A huge thank you to Mayor Bob Fiala for hosting a leadership Q&A with our cohort! Thank you to the tda architecture Team for hosting us and providing a tour of your beautiful and historic facility!

Last week our Signature Lake County Free Clinic Community Impact Project group toured the Lake County Free Clinic to begin working on an outreach campaign to local dentists.

The group is standing in front of signs created by free clinic patients—the signs read, “Hope” and “Compassion” in both English and Spanish. This artwork is so fitting as this group is filled with both hope and compassion as they embark on their community impact project journey!

Junior Leadership Program History Day yesterday was a perfect day!

The high school students learned a lot about the history of Lake County, that leadership isn’t something you’re born with rather a learned skill that everyone can acquire and finished with gratitude discussions.

The best part of the day was our discussion around their impact project this year - “Seniors Prom”!

📣 Calling all Leadership Lake County alumni! 📣

•On Saturday, September 23rd from 9am-4pm, volunteers will converge on Santa’s Hide-A-Way Hollow (http://www.santashideawayhollow.com/) in Middlefield.

•The site is a 20-acre North Pole with over 25 buildings including a post office, bank, ice cream shop, candy store, real estate office, etc. We will help keep this magical place in tip-top shape for terminally ill children and their families to visit Santa during the year. Volunteers can work on a variety of projects—outside staining/painting, pruning, fence repair, weeding, weed-whacking, rough construction—whatever Santa needs us to do.

•This event is sponsored by Leadership Lake County but is open to anyone age 16 or above. There is a lot of work to be done; so, the more volunteers, the more we can accomplish.

•Santa’s is located at: 15400 Bundysburg Road Middlefield, OH 44062
Map: https://www.mapquest.com/us/ohio/santas-hideaway-hollow-353410667

•Work will start at 9:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided or you can bring your own and Mrs. Claus will provide cookies!

Work can end when you need to leave, but we’ll plan on staying till 4:00. Santa can provide some equipment, bit if you have tools/equipment that you can bring such as a weed-whacker, gardening tools, paint brushes, paint rollers, etc. Please note that when you sign up.

•You’ll need proper clothing (closed toe shoes, long sleeves if painting, etc.) and work gloves. Plastic painting gloves can be provided. The work is outdoors.

•Sign-up to volunteer here ➡️ https://forms.gle/pFNujTqkM8c9Vbv5A
