Our younger Scouts in Pack 383 had their Christmas party last Wednesday and they had a Special visitor in Santa. They were able to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas and even the adult leaders got to sit on Santa’s lap.

Taking some of this from Troop 222 because I couldn’t have said this better.
Scoutsgiving this weekend. Troop 383 along with BSA Troop 222 - Mentor, Ohio held a joint campout and invited Arrow of Light Scouts from Pack 383 to join us. The Scouts had some stations setup for the AoLs to learn about fire building, knife safety, setting up tents and learning some songs and skits. The patrols also completed in a cooking competition for Brunch. The entries were awesome and very creative. While the scouts were cooking the adults was making their own lunch. Which included our 2nd annual homemade pizzas. With Matt at the lead and Rob tossing the dough in the air.

Some of the adults got some afternoon napping in.

We ended Saturday with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner cooked at camp. We smoked a turkey and deep fried a couple. The Scouts made some of the sides for the meal. We had had corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans casserole, egg noodles, sweet potatoes, homemade cranberries and stuffing.

For dessert we had pineapple upside down cake, almost pumpkin pie, some home baked chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes.

If you left hungry that was your own fault. Plenty of food for everyone.

Troop 383 retiring American Flags and raking of leaves as part of the fall clean up and Flag Retirement Ceremony at the James A Garfield National Historic Site. 10 scouts and 5 scouters participated as well as two youth guests from Michigan who were visiting the site.
After some hard work of raking leaves into piles, the scouts had a little fun in just 1 of the piles of leaves. Thanks for all the hard work the scouts and scouters put in.

Over 50 MB, numerous rank advancement and lots of special awards were given out. Ben our SPL did a great job as MC, along with Josh the ASPL helping him.

Troop 383’s meeting was for working on Advancements. A lot was accomplished. After the rope was done being used for advancement it was used for a tug of war.
At the end of the meeting we sang Happy Birthday to Mitch who will be turning 18.
We have started a new tradition of doing Vespers at a scouts last meeting before becoming an Adult.

This past weekend’s Campout included
Digging their own potatoes for a Spud Dinner. Washing them then cooking them over a fire.
Also the scouts did a treasure hunt with gps coordinates with great success.
The nite ended with Ice Cream by the fire with songs and skits. Great weekend.

Troop 383 did a day trip to Conneaut for the D-Day event. We did get to see paratroopers dropped from a plane.
We saw some reenactments and other sites. Most of the scout got to ride in a boat.
We got soaked by the first storm that came in. And we were waiting for the main event of storming the beaches BUT it got canceled because of the big incoming storms. We had fun and would do it again. Just a couple of photos of the day.
We saw many scout troops at this event.
