Swing by the Merced County Library for a new book today or tomorrow, so you're ready to celebrate National Read a Book Day on Sunday!

We love supporting local organizations, so this is the perfect way to show our local library some extra love.

They're closed on Sundays, so make sure to stop by before then.

No big deal, UC Merced is just making history over here.

Since its founding in 2005, a commitment was made to demonstrate environmental stewardship, and they became the first public research university in the nation (and the first institution in the University of California System) to achieve Carbon Neutrality.

Now, what is carbon neutrality?

Carbon Neutrality at UC Merced is achieving zero net greenhouse gas emissions for scope 1 and scope 2 emission sources. This can be done through a combination of energy-efficient design, renewable energy generation, offsets, occupant behavior changes, and clean power.

These actions have been steps toward building solutions for tomorrow, because at UC Merced, sustainability is about building on progress to date.

What should Merced’s parks look like over the next 10 years?

Our community has been helping us answer that question.
Through community meetings, surveys and outreach, residents shared what matters to them when it comes to Merced’s parks, recreation programs and public spaces. That input helped shape the City’s new 2026–2035 Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Master Plan. of Merced Parks and Recreation
Tonight, the Recreation & Parks Commission will review the plan, including its findings, priorities and recommendations for park maintenance, safety, recreation facilities, amenities, and future needs.
The Commission will also consider whether to recommend the PROS Master Plan to the City Council for final consideration.

Recreation & Parks Commission
Tonight at 5:30 p.m.
43 parks. 367 acres. One plan for what comes next.
Watch the meeting live on the City of Merced YouTube channel.
