📣Diaper Program Update📣

After an incredible journey serving our community, our Diaper Bank Program will officially come to an end on June 26, 2026.

What began on October 1, 2023, as an 18-month program grew into something much bigger. Because of the continued need and support from our community and partners, we were able to extend the program and serve more than 1,200 families along the way!

We are deeply grateful to every family, volunteer, supporter, and community partner who made this program possible. A very special thank you to .org for their partnership and commitment to helping families access essential resources throughout this program.

Thank you for allowing us to serve this community and support local families when it mattered most. ❤️

🌟Keeping MCCAA Connected: Meet the IT Team🌟

Meet Jorge & Simone... our MCCAA IT duo who keep everything running smoothly behind the screens 💻

👨‍💻Jorge is our IT Manager and go-to problem solver bringing over 10 years of experience and quickly making an impact by resolving Wi-Fi issues within his first month, upgrading access points and improving connectivity across staff and guest networks.

👩‍💻Simone is our Network Specialist, keeping systems steady, secure, and on track. She helps everything from day-to-day troubleshooting to configuring advanced equipment across multiple sites.

Together, they’ve led major projects like the successful rollout of our new phone system configured from the ground up across all departments and locations, going live smoothly on day one! Together, they’re the reason emails send, systems stay up, and “tech issues” don’t turn into “full-blown emergencies.” Thank you for keeping us connected, supported, and running strong! 💪

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Celebrating 21 Years of Service 🌟

This month, we're proud to recognize our dedicated Staff Accountant, who has been a valued member of the MCCAA team for 21 years. After moving from Los Angeles to Atwater in 2005, she decided to return to work and applied through a temporary agency. That assignment brought her to MCCAA and more than two decades later, she continues to make a lasting impact on our agency and community.

As a Staff Accountant, she manages a wide range of responsibilities including grant reporting, budget analysis, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and other critical accounting functions. Her knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence help keep our agency running smoothly every day. Known for her strong work ethic and unwavering dedication, she is a trusted resource throughout the organization. Whether it's a complex accounting question or guidance on a project, her coworkers know they can count on her for answers, support, and expertise. She is always willing to help and shares her knowledge generously with others.

When asked what MCCAA's mission means to her, she also shared:
"It means a lot because as long as MCCAA is open and running, we'll continue focusing on helping our community with resources that make their lives a little easier."

Her dedication to MCCAA, her fellow employees, and the families we serve is truly appreciated. Thank you for 21 years of hard work, commitment, and service. We are grateful to have you as part of MCCAA!

💼✨ Staff Spotlight: Tracy, HR Director✨ 💼

Meet MCCAA’s HR Director! With more than 25 years of Human Resources experience, she has been connected to MCCAA since 2010 and officially rejoined the agency on October 15, 2025. Her journey with MCCAA has included multiple chapters of service, all rooted in a strong commitment to supporting staff and strengthening operations.

She enjoys the fast-paced nature of HR and working closely with internal teams, where no two days are ever the same. For her, MCCAA’s mission is about serving and advocating for those in need and staying true to the agency’s commitment to the “War on Poverty.”

She is especially proud of helping transform the HR Department and launching initiatives like onsite job fairs to connect community members directly with employment opportunities.

💛 Fun fact: she is a published poet, lifelong writer, and enjoys gardening in her free time!

She truly brings the staff spirit to MCCAA every day. Thank you for your commitment to MCCAA’s mission and for all that you do!🌟

❤️Happy Birthday, Head Start! ❤️

Launched in 1965 as one of the first “War on Poverty” initiatives, Head Start has provided comprehensive early childhood education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to children and families for 61 years.

MCCAA, then known as the Dos Palos Poverty Fighters, started the first Head Start program in Merced County in Dos Palos, CA. Building on that success, MCCAA went on to open the county’s first State Preschool program in 1972.

For generations, we have remained committed to empowering children, supporting families, and strengthening our community through early education. 🌟

✨Meet Miranda, our MCCAA WIC Breastfeeding Liaison!✨

Miranda has been with MCCAA for a little over five years and currently serves as the Regional Breastfeeding Liaison for the WIC program. She began her journey in late 2020 as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor after already volunteering with the Merced Breastfeeding Cafe, and has since grown into roles as a Certified Lactation Consultant and now Liaison.🤰

What she enjoys most is supporting families during one of the most meaningful and emotional times in their lives, while also connecting with the community through outreach events. The MCCAA mission is at the heart of everything she does, and she is dedicated to making breastfeeding support more accessible and equitable across Merced County.

She is especially proud of helping launch the Merced Breastfeeding Cafe in 2018, which is still thriving today, along with a second location now open in Los Banos.

Thank you, Miranda, for all of your hard work and dedication! 🌟
