Hey Trash Talker! We’re looking for residents who want to improve our local waste management and recycling services.

The Integrated Waste Management Local Task Force is made up of local individuals who want to help guide our recycling, outreach, and operational work at the landfill. The Task Force will begin meeting later this year and will work to make recommendations to the RWA staff and Governing Board about disposal facilities, recycling initiatives, community education efforts, and more!

There are currently several vacancies on the Task Force as follows:
♻️At-large resident of Merced County (can live in any unincorporated area of the county)
♻️At-large City resident (can live in any of the following cities: Atwater, Dos Palos, Gustine, Livingston, Los Banos, Merced)
♻️Environmental representative

This Week's Item: USED COOKING OIL

I bet you knew that you can't pour cooking oil down the drain but did you know that we accept cooking oil for free at the landfill? That's right! Small amounts of cooking oil should be cooled and placed in your green bin. But large amounts - up to 5 gallons - can be taken to the Highway 59 landfill for free disposal!

So, the next time you fire up the deep fryer, or if your large collection bucket gets full remember that you can bring it to us - for FREE.

This Week's Item: CLOTHING AND TEXTILES!

Have clothes or textiles you no longer need? Recycle them using our updated recycling programs!

RWA has partnered with Eco World and Just Porch It to offer Merced County residents free clothing and textiles in our local community. Those items that cannot be reused are recycled and kept out of our local landfills.

To recycle your clothes and textiles, look for the Eco World collection bins in your community or utilize the pick-up service provided by Just Porch It!

The TRB will meet on Wednesday, July 8th at noon and the Governing Board will meet on Thursday, July 16th at 3pm.

Have old clothes to get rid of? Drop off all clean and dry clothes (and bags, shoes, bedding, and belts) for free at any of the EcoWorld bins in your community, or bring it to the landfill!
