This is not a post anyone wishes to make, but unfortunately, a great man, Abraham Bustos, lost his life while trying to help someone in need. We ask everyone to take a moment to remember the kind of person Abraham truly was. He made a huge impact on many lives. He was a hard worker and a kind soul, always eager to serve his community and inspire others. Our hearts go out to the Bustos family.
At the age of 14, Abraham joined the Merced Police Explorers, completing well over 2,000 hours of community service in the span of seven years (2010-2017). You could always tell, watching him grow up and work throughout the years, how much he enjoyed helping others, always wanting to put a smile on their faces. From 2015 to 2016, Abraham worked as a Parking Enforcement Officer in the city of Merced until he moved on to volunteer in the VIPS program from 2016 to 2017. By 2018, he decided to return to the Merced Police Explorers Program as an Advisor for the kids, a role he continued until his passing on 3/16/2025. His death is heartbreaking for those who watched him grow into the incredible individual he became and witnessed his journey toward a fulfilling career.
Before his passing, Abraham was working towards his dream of becoming a Police Officer. Many were eagerly waiting to watch him graduate and see where his accomplishments would take him in life. We remember Abraham Bustos as a giving person, full of joy and love. Our Explorer post will forever remember him. He was not only an explorer or an advisor; Abraham was family.
Thank you, Abraham, for your service and the love you demonstrated to our community. Rest in peace; you will always be in our hearts.
