EXTREME FIRE DANGER
BURN PERMITS SUSPENDED

Good morning Friends,

The WI DNR has increased the Fire Danger Level to “EXTREME”. All burn permits are suspended and no outdoor burning of any type should be attempted.
A fire danger of EXTREME means wildfires start easily, spread quickly, burn intensely and are very difficult to control.
The NWS (National Weather Service) has Iron County under a RED FLAG WARNING, from noon to 9 PM today.
If you see burning, immediately call the DNR Violation Hotline at 1-800-TIP-WDNR (1-800-847-9367), or 911.
These are extreme fire conditions. If a fire started by you gets out of control or burning outside the parameters of the burn permit, you can be fined and be responsible for the costs of suppression efforts.
Please do your part and help us prevent wildfires from starting.

Hwy 51 Road Construction Update

Road work on Hwy 51, through downtown Mercer, is expected to start April 26th. They will break for Memorial Day weekend. The project is expected to be completed by the 4th of July.

We have received multiple calls from people finding counterfeit money on the ground. The bills have “ Motion Picture Purposes” and Chinese writing on them. The money is shown in the picture.

If you find any of these counterfeit bills please turn them into Law Enforcement. If you attempt to use these bills you could be charge with Wisconsin Statute 943.38 Uttering Forged Material.
