New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies, Inc. NJAMHAA is a statewide trade association representing organizations that serve NJ residents with men (NJAMHAA) are the roots of this community-based system.

Today, the vast majority of individuals with serious mental health and substance abuse disorders, as well as thousands of other persons with behavioral problems, live and receive their services in the community. ▶️ Day 2 Plenary:
Discover what’s new Behavioral Health National Landscape - Today and on the Horizon presented by Charles Ingoglia, MSW, President and CEO, National Council for Mental Wellbeing. Chuck Ingoglia will provide an overview of the national landscape in the field of behavioral health. With the new Administration just getting underway, federal spending on mental health and substance use services, as well as policies, could be impacted. Ingoglia will explore where the nation stands, new developments and possibilities of what can be expected in the coming months. Advocacy and other approaches relevant to the workforce, telehealth, Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics, crisis services and more will also be discussed. As the field continues to adapt and implement new models of care while facing an ongoing workforce shortage, it is important for all in the field to be well informed in order to be prepared for the challenges ahead and make the most of the opportunities on the horizon.

It is time to raise awareness of the positive impact of behavioral health care and services and secure Governor Murphy’s and the State Legislature’s support as they finalize the FY2026 State Budget. Recent stressful situations locally, nationwide and across the world are having a negative impact on mental health for individuals of all ages. Increased funding is needed, in part, because of higher administrative costs associated with the carve-in of more behavioral health services into Medicaid managed care. Staff have had to take on additional layers of administration, including credentialing, prior authorization and claims. Community-based behavioral healthcare providers in New Jersey already operate on razor-thin margins. Tell Governor Murphy and Legislators: increasing behavioral health funding is good for New Jerseyans and the state’s bottom line!

February is American Heart Month, a time to reinforce for all people—especially women— to focus on their cardiovascular health. Studies have shown the impact of mental health issues and stress on the body, especially the heart. It’s time to raise awareness about the risks of heart disease and the importance of identifying and managing heart-related health conditions.

For generations, African Americans worked collectively to survive and thrive amid historical and ongoing oppression. Through education, religious institutions, businesses, the press and organizations, Black people created ways to serve their communities while establishing safe spaces. However, mental health conditions do not discriminate and access to treatment remains especially challenging for minorities.
