TODAY IS ELECTION DAY!

Polls are open and as you head out to vote, take a moment to consider the kind of leadership that will best serve the residents and future of Merchantville.

The Merchantville Democrat Team - Ruby Delarosa & Sean Fitzgerald for Council, and Ray Woods for Mayor - has a proven record of showing up, working hard, and delivering for our community.

We are parents with children in our public school, neighbors invested in our borough, and residents who share the same hopes for Merchantville as all of you. We want safe neighborhoods, strong schools, quality services, vibrant parks and recreation spaces, and a community where families can thrive. With Election Day just hours away, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible supporters, volunteers, friends, and neighbors who have stood with us throughout this campaign.

Over the last several months, your encouragement, support, and countless hours of sweat equity have made all of this possible. Every conversation, every door knocked, every sign placed, and every word of encouragement reinforced what we already believed – that our commitment to serving our borough resonated with residents and they supported our vision of building an even better community and a brighter future for our borough.

We also want to extend a special thank you to our families. Campaigns require sacrifices not only from the candidates, but from the loved ones who stand behind them. Whether it was joining us on the campaign trail, cheering us on from the sidelines, or taking on additional family responsibilities while we hit the campaign trail, fulfilled professional obligations, or carried out governmental duties, their support and love made this journey possible. We truly could not do any of this without them.

The overwhelming support we've received has motivated us every step of the way and strengthened our commitment to serving the residents of Merchantville with the dedication and energy they deserve.

Merchantville would not be the wonderful community it is today without the leadership, vision, and dedication of Mayor Ted Brennan. For the past 12 years, Ted's tireless efforts have helped shape the growth of our borough, guiding Merchantville through challenges and opportunities while always putting our community first.

Under Ted's leadership, our borough has continued to move in the right direction, building on our strengths, investing in our community, and making Merchantville an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. His commitment to public service, willingness to lead, and deep love for our borough have set a high standard for those who follow.

The expectations we face are significant, but they are a reflection of the example Ted has set through his leadership and service. We are honored to have his support as we run for Mayor and Council, and we are committed to building on the strong foundation and legacy he continues to build today.

It was a family affair today as Ray and his campaign team were out reminding neighbors about the important election coming up on Tuesday, June 2. While our campaign may run on child labor, they were generously compensated with pizza and ice cream for their hard work.

Ruby, Sean, and Ray were back out this evening talking with neighbors one last time before the final push this weekend ahead of Election Day on June 2.

Over the last few months, we’ve had so many great conversations with residents across Merchantville - knocking on nearly 800 doors and speaking with hundreds of neighbors about the issues that matter most to them. We’ve taken those conversations to heart, and they have helped shape our priorities for Merchantville if elected.

We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support, encouragement, and kindness we’ve received throughout this campaign. At the end of the day, we are just parents, neighbors, and friends who care deeply about this community and want to help make Merchantville an even better place to raise a family, live, play, and enjoy all our borough has to offer.

We are proud to be recognized by Moms Demand Action as Gun Sense Candidates who support commonsense gun safety measures that protect our families, schools, and communities while respecting responsible gun ownership.

As we approach National Gun Violence Awareness Month, we reflect on all the lives needlessly lost to gun violence and recommit ourselves to advocating for policies that save lives and help build safer communities for everyone.

Every day, nearly 130 Americans are shot and killed, and hundreds more are wounded. These tragedies impact communities of every size - including our own.

That’s why we support proven, bipartisan solutions to help keep guns out of dangerous hands, including:
✅Universal background checks on all gun sales
🚩Strong Red Flag laws to intervene before tragedy strikes
🔒Secure firearm storage requirements to protect children & prevent theft
🔫Cracking down on ghost guns & illegal trafficking
❌Keeping weapons of war off our streets
💜Protecting survivors of domestic violence by disarming abusers
🧑‍⚕️Investing in violence intervention & mental health programs that save lives

No single law will end every act of violence, but we cannot accept inaction while families continue to suffer. We can protect constitutional rights and take commonsense steps to reduce gun violence at the same time.
