Here is a look at some of the visitors to the County's Owl Boxes🦉! We can see a few Magpies, a Great Horned Owl and a Barn owl. We construct Owl Boxes to act as a mechanical method of Pest Abatement🐭. At our Owl Box sites, we check for Pellets. Checking Owl Pellets shows what kind of Pests and animals the Owls have previously feed on. Using nature to fight for public health! ❤

This is an information-gathering-only meeting. The public is invited to attend, but no public testimony will be received.

Today is World Mosquito Day!

World Mosquito Day isn't actually celebrating mosquitoes. It commemorates the day in 1897 when Sir Ronald Ross discovered that mosquitoes transmit Malaria. A breakthrough that changed medicine and helped save countless lives. Today in Idaho, we focus on West Nile Virus and the negative effects it can have on our lives.

Here in Ada County, we would like to spotlight the work our Technicians and Lab Crews do to help reduce populations with Mosquito-borne illnesses. You can help to make their jobs easier by following our 3-D’s:

1. DRAIN: Eliminate any standing water where mosquitoes can breed.
2. DRESS: Wear loose fitting and long-sleeved shirts to protect yourself.
3. DEFEND: A good mosquito repellent is a must whenever going outdoors.

Remember to protect yourself and be aware!
