Town of Merino Merino, CO. has history dating back to the 1860’s where some of the earliest settlers were the Holon Godfrey family who ran a stage stop called Fort Wicked as told on a commemorative marker 3.3 miles southwest of Merino on Highway 6.

Sterling Animal Clinic will be available at the Merino Town Hall July 17, 2021 between the hours of 9-11 am to provide animal vaccinations.
Please bring your dog or cat for vaccinations. For the safety of all please only one animal in the room at a time. Others may wait outside while social distancing. If you want the 3 year vaccination you must have a current documentation for your animal.

It is a 2019 Spartan Metro custom cab.
It has 1000 gallons of water, seats 6 firefighters, with 5 SCBA seats.
Come see it in person on July 2nd at 6 pm for our Open House and Truck Ceremony.
We will have hamburgers and hot dogs.

*Have a valid driver’s license
*Have knowledge of backhoe/tractor work
*Have basic plumbing knowledge
*Have basic mechanical knowledge (oil changes, basic motor repairs, etc)
*Possess basic math skills and the ability to read and decipher charts and graphs
*Have basic computer knowledge
*Pass background checks
*Pass random drug testing
*Be able to pass heavy lifting and physical screening
*Be available in emergency situations
*MUST have good people skills
This is a PART-TIME position. This person is responsible for the water and wastewater systems for the town. Also he/she will be responsible for park, vehicle, and street maintenance. Must have the ability to take initiative to see what work needs to be done and prioritize the jobs. Town Clerk Position Description

Position Summary:
Perform assigned accountabilities as listed below to maintain orderly function and business for the Town of Merino. Assigned accountabilities are to be completed in 135 hours a month or less. If additional hours are required, the Board is to be notified and must authorize the overage.

Reports to: The Mayor of the Town of Merino and The Board of Trustees of the Town of Merino.

Accountabilities:
1. Maintain office hours necessary to serve the public and conduct business for the Town of Merino, Colorado
2. Answer phone calls, phone messages and electronic mail
3. Work with the Town Treasurer in maintaining accounts receivable
4. Monitor and maintain incoming mail
5. Work with the Treasurer to prepare, monitor and maintain budget for the Town of Merino, Colorado
6. Maintain Town Hall and Community Center, including requests for use
7. Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies necessary for town business
8. Monitor and manage all Municipal Elections for the Town of Merino, Colorado
9. Maintain all cemetery records, including the Grant of Right of Interment
10. Notify the Town of Merino residents and the general public of issues of interest or importance to the Town of Merino, Colorado, including publication of ordinances, meeting notices, meeting agendas and meeting minutes
11. Assist the Town Treasurer with bank deposits and bank business as necessary
12. Keep the Town Board of Trustees notified of issues or concerns requiring their attention between scheduled meetings
13. Other tasks as assigned by the Town Board of Trustees as deemed necessary to maintain operations of the Town of Merino, Colorado

Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Town Board of Trustees and Town Treasurer
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively
Ability to become familiar with and work within established procedures and in collaborative team environment
Demonstrated ability to facilitate discussions and solve problems
Demonstrated ability to work with little supervision
Willingness to become familiar with and knowledgeable of the Colorado State Laws necessary to do business as the Town of Merino, Colorado

Physical Requirements
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and twisting upper body
Capable of lifting up to 30 lbs

There will be a clean up day at the Towns Cemetery on May 21st at 9 a.m. Volunteers are wanted to help with this project. The Town also has a list of volunteers that will help through the year to keep the cemetery looking nice but would like to add to that list if you are interested please give us a call at Town Hall 522-1036 and we will add you to our list. As of August 10, 2015, the Merino Town Board has officially removed the limited flush order. The Town will be monitoring the ponds regularly and will keep you posted if there are any changes. Thank you to all the residents for your cooperation.

As of the Merino Town Board meeting held July 13, 2015, the Merino Town Board decided to keep the LIMITED FLUSH ORDER in effect until more water recedes from the wastewater lagoons. There has been a significant decrease in the water flow, so the residents' cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. There will be another update later this month as to the status of the order.
