Just 161 years ago today, African American communities in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. Today, we celebrate Black freedom, resilience, and joy. Happy Juneteenth!

We are proud to announce our new Executive Board for 2026-2027, voted in at last week’s reorganization meeting with over 30 members in attendance! ☑️🗳

Officers for 2026-2027 will be: Vice President - Patrick Brown, Secretary - Charlie Conner, Co-President - Gillie Cuda, Treasurer - Jonathan Middleton, Co-President - Sabrina Mattin, Political Director - Israa Elhiraika, and Immediate Past-President - Camila Alfonzo Meza. We look forward to working with the community, driving voter turnout, continuing electoral success, and increasing youth engagement.

We are also happy to share FYD Exec Board’s Furry Friends, very good boys and girls who are always there for a supportive nuzzle and to make sure all the FYD Exec Board work gets done. Furry Friends are: Elmer, Frank, Meelo, Laika, Lily, Maggie, Beau, Sam, George, Lucky, Peanut, and Coco. 😺🐶
