During Law Enforcement Appreciation Week, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office would like to recognize and thank our deputies.

Across Lincoln County’s rural communities, townships, highways, and back roads, our deputies are there at all hours of the day and night answering calls, helping those in need, protecting our communities, and standing beside our citizens during difficult moments.

The badge carries a responsibility that often requires long hours, missed time with family, and responding to situations most people never see. In addition to their daily responsibilities, our deputies dedicate countless hours to training throughout the year to improve their skills, better serve our communities, and prepare for the challenges they may face while protecting Lincoln County.

Despite those challenges, our deputies continue to serve Lincoln County with professionalism, pride, and dedication.

To our deputies, we see you.

Thank you for your sacrifice, dedication, and commitment to serving Lincoln County. Without your professionalism, training, and willingness to answer the call at all hours, our mission would not be possible.

Your service to our communities does not go unnoticed. Thank you for everything you do to keep Lincoln County safe.

During National Corrections Officers Week (May 3–9), the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office proudly recognizes and honors the dedicated men and women serving in our corrections division.

Our corrections officers are the backbone of our jail operations, working around the clock to ensure the safety, security, and orderly operation of our facility. Their role goes far beyond supervision— they manage complex situations, maintain professionalism under pressure, and treat all individuals in their care with fairness, respect and dignity.

The work inside a county jail is demanding and often goes unseen by the public, yet it is essential to the overall safety of our community. Whether it’s maintaining security or supporting inmate well-being, our team consistently demonstrates resilience, integrity and commitment.

We are proud of the professionalism and dedication shown every day by our corrections staff. Their willingness to serve in a challenging environment speaks volumes about their character and their commitment to public safety.

To all of our corrections officers, thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and the vital role you play in Lincoln County. Your work does not go unnoticed and it is deeply appreciated.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team (SRT) would like to extend our sincere thanks to Rod’s Towing for allowing us access to their facility.

During our time there, they provided multiple vehicles that allowed our team to conduct valuable training, including the deployment of chemical agents and less-lethal munitions in realistic scenarios. Opportunities like this are critical in helping us maintain a high level of readiness and effectiveness.

We greatly appreciate the support from local businesses like Rod’s Towing who help make this training possible. Thank you for your partnership and commitment to our community.

After 9 years of loyal and dedicated service to our agency and to you, the citizens and visitors of Lincoln County, K-9 Nina has reached retirement and is finishing up her last shift today, Thursday, April 23, 2026.

K-9 Nina was born in Hungary in May, 2015. She was trained in dual-purpose tracking/narcotics detection work at Vohne Liche Kennels in Indiana and was paired with Deputy Sam Steckbauer in May, 2017 where the two of them together refined and finished their training in patrol work. She and Deputy Steckbauer were appointed to their first patrol shift together on Monday, June 19, 2017.

During her career K-9 Nina saw hundreds of deployments where she was responsible for numerous civil (lost individual) and criminal tracks and countless drug arrests. She also participated in many community outreach engagements where she was always adored by members of the public.

In her retirement K-9 Nina will continue to live with Det. Steckbauer and his family where we have no doubt she will enjoy naps on her blanket, relaxing pontoon rides, barking at the mailman, and a little extra pumpkin mixed in with her kibble.

Job well-done Nina…thank you for your service.

Christine, Jessica, and Julie…we admire all you do to help keep this place functioning at a high level on a daily basis. Your knowledge, skill, dedication, and just your presence are truly appreciated beyond what words can describe. Thank you ladies!

This week, we recognize National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and honor the dedicated professionals who serve as the vital link between our community and emergency responders.

Dispatchers are often the first first responders — answering 911 calls, calming callers in crisis, gathering critical information, and helping ensure deputies, fire, and EMS can respond quickly and safely.

Their work requires compassion, professionalism, patience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Although their work is often behind the scenes, its impact is felt every day across our community.

To our Sheriff’s Office dispatchers: thank you for your service, your steady presence, and your commitment to helping others when they need it most.

A message from Sheriff Ken Schneider:

At the end of this year I plan to retire, and would like to announce my non-candidacy for Sheriff in this 2026 election.

I want to deeply thank all of the people who have supported me and allowed me to serve these last two terms as Sheriff. The kind words of support, the notes of gratitude, or the honk and waves as people go by will truly be missed.

I am very proud of this agency, and thankful for all of the people that work here. Please continue to show your support to the next Sheriff and all those that work with him to keep Lincoln County safe.

Sheriff Ken Schneider

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office recently received a Wisconsin BOTS (Bureau of Transportation Safety) grant, which will fund additional traffic enforcement patrols through September 2026. The goal of these extra focus patrols is to reduce crashes and improve road safety. Of course, we can't accomplish this goal without your help. So when you are out and about, please follow all speed limits, be mindful of road and traffic conditions, and always wear a seatbelt.

On April 1st, 2026, investigators from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, who are trained members of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, executed a search warrant at a residence in the Township of Merrill.

The search warrant was obtained as the result of a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), advising of concerning internet activity being identified in our county. The tip further stated it appeared that two files of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), commonly referred to as child po*******hy, were uploaded to an online reverse image search engine. A preliminary investigation was done by the Wisconsin Dept. of Justice - Division of Criminal Investigation, who identified the internet subscriber associated with the IP address the content was uploaded from.

Sheriff’s Office Investigators then applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence. Upon ex*****on of the warrant and subsequent evidentiary analysis, several hundred images and videos of CSAM along with virtual (computer-generated) CSAM were located, depicting children as young as toddler-aged being sexually assaulted. As a result, Patrick N Gryskiewicz, age 58, was taken into custody and booked into the Lincoln County Jail for Possession of Child Po*******hy.

On Monday April 6th, 2026, Gryskiewicz had his initial appearance where the Honorable Jessica Fehrenbach set a $100,000 cash bond. Patrick remains in custody in the Lincoln County Jail.

This case remains under active investigation, and while defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office wants the community to know that this behavior will not be tolerated and we will remain steadfast in our mission to safeguard the innocence of our children.
