Active Day Merrillville and it’s transportation services will be closed today on August 12th due to power outages and unsafe travel conditions. We are trying to spread the word and appreciate anyone sharing this information. Everyone please stay safe and we will update you on tomorrow as soon as possible.

📚🦋 Creativity is always in full bloom at Active Day Merrillville!

Today our members put their own creative spin on bookmark making, designing colorful bookmarks filled with butterflies, beads, beautiful sayings, and plenty of personality! 💚💙❤️

We love activities that give everyone the freedom to create something completely their own, and these bookmarks turned out wonderfully unique. Now we just need a good book to go with them! 📖✨

🥤🤎 Nothing says summer quite like a Root Beer Float! 🤎🥤

Our Active Day Merrillville family celebrated National Root Beer Float Day with a sweet afternoon treat that brought smiles all around! Members enjoyed delicious root beer floats while spending time together, sharing conversations, and making new memories.

Sometimes it’s the simple things, like a frosty float with creamy ice cream and fizzy root beer, that bring the biggest smiles. Seeing everyone enjoy this classic favorite made for a wonderful afternoon full of laughter and happy faces.

Here’s to celebrating the little moments that make each day special.

🔥🏕️ Campfire Day was a blazing fun at Active Day Merrillville! 🏕️🔥

We packed up our imagination and headed to the great outdoors… without ever leaving the center! 🌙⭐

Our members had an amazing time celebrating Campfire Day with a variety of camping-themed activities. We tested our quick thinking with fun trivia and games, discovered our silly camping and s’mores names, and even learned the basics of building a safe campfire. ⛺🪵

There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and wonderful conversation as everyone embraced the camping spirit. Even without the woods, we made memories around our “campfire” that will last long after the flames have gone out.

Thank you to our amazing members for making every activity so much fun. We can’t wait to see where our next adventure takes us! ❤️

🍉❤️ Sweet, juicy, and full of fun! ❤️🍉

Yesterday our Active Day Merrillville family celebrated National Watermelon Day by putting all five senses to work! Members explored watermelon through sight, smell, touch, sound, and taste while learning fun facts about one of summer’s favorite fruits. 🍉👀👃👋👂👅

After completing our sensory activity, everyone enjoyed a refreshing slice of watermelon together. It was a wonderful way to encourage conversation, stimulate the senses, and create meaningful moments while celebrating the season.

There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and happy taste testers around the room, making it a sweet day to remember! ❤️🍉

A brand new month means new memories to make here at Active Day Merrillville!💙

August is packed with exciting activities, special celebrations, creative crafts, delicious treats, and plenty of opportunities to laugh, learn, and stay active together. From gathering around the "campfire" on Campfire Day 🔥 to enjoying our 3rd annual Carnival 🎪 filled with food, games, and fun, this month is sure to be one to remember! Our August activity calendar also features favorites like watermelon tasting, bean bag toss, baseball, trivia, painting, tennis, bingo, ice cream socials, and so much more.
