The discovery in a closet of St. Christina’s basement prompted a police investigation and alarmed neighbors, but officials said a young man came forward admitting the set up was some sort of prank.

Last night at approximately 11:42pm, 22nd District officers responded to reports of vehicles drifting and drag racing at 111th & Western. Officers arrived within 3 minutes of the first 911 call, and the group quickly dispersed from the area. Despite initial reports of shots fired, officers and witnesses confirmed no gunfire occurred. Circulating video footage also confirms that the reported sounds came from the modified exhaust of a black Chrysler 300 that was on scene. The 22nd District is in the process of reviewing available video, and any area businesses with footage showing license plates or other identifying information are asked to contact the 22nd District.

On Aug 16th, officers responded to the 11500 blk of S. Campbell for armed males in a red SUV attempting to steal a vehicle. Officers observed the SUV and learned it was taken in a carjacking. They attempted to evade CPD but crashed. Attempted to run but were caught. Nice job!

We received a message asking to post and make those in the community aware of Gypsy activity in the area, recent incidents have occurred. They utilize “Ruse Burglaries” they will pose as utility workers or contractors and speak to a resident at the front door while another subject will enter the home and burglarize it. They prey on the elderly, please keep an eye out. Call in any suspicious activity, get description of vehicles being used and clothing that offenders may be wearing.

A former Uber driver is detained and facing criminal sexual assault and kidnapping charges after prosecutors said he attacked an 18-year-old woman who was leaving a graduation party, then told her she was too drunk to remember it.
