August Events At Sams House at Pine Island
Sams Touch Table-Every First Saturday and Sunday of the Month, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM-Stop by Sams House to explore a hands-on collection of natural artifacts, including shells, skulls, feathers, fossils, and more. Touch, observe, and learn about Florida's native plants, wildlife, and ecosystems. A new theme each month means there's always something new to discover
DIY Bug Repellent-Thursday, August 6, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM-Stop by Sams House to make your very own all-natural insect repellent! Learn how to mix simple, natural ingredients into an effective spray that's perfect for keeping mosquitoes and pests away while you enjoy the outdoors.
Pioneer Games-Saturday and Sunday August 22 & 23, 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM-Learn how to play some Pioneer Games. Stop by Sams House at any time to play hopscotch,
checkers, buzz saws and Game of Graces; there are numerous games to try.
Saturday Bird Walks Every Saturday 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM-Join the Naturalist Staff (weather permitting) as we look and listen for birds around the
park. From beginner to expert, all levels of birders are welcome. We encourage you to bring your own binoculars, if possible. We have a limited supply to borrow if necessary. Please meet out front between the cabin and the white house prior to the 9 AM walk.
House and Cabin Tour Every Thursday and Saturday at 3:00 PM-Tour the inside of Brevard County’s oldest standing home (1875) and the adjacent 1888.
Florida Vernacular-style home to learn about the Sams Family.
Scavenger Hunt Every Sunday 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM-Stop by the 1888 house to pick up your nature hunt. Enjoy the afternoon exploring the grounds.
The Sams House at Pine Island Conservation Area was created and is managed under Brevard County’s Environmentally Endangered Lands Program referenda. The Program was established by voters in 1990 and reaffirmed in 2004 and again in 2022 to protect and preserve the rich biological diversity and native species of Brevard County for future generations.
