A pending North Dakota state record Yellow perch was just caught on Devils Lake. The fish measured 16.5 inches and weighed 2.99 pounds on a certified scale checked by a North Dakota Game Warden at Woodland Resort. It was caught by Alan Hintz of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, while fishing with Perch Patrol Guide Service.

The current ND state record is 2 lb 15 oz, set back in 1982 — so this fish has it beat… for now. There’s a mandatory 4-week verification period before it becomes official, but if it holds up, we’re looking at a new record nearly 44 years in the making. Absolute tank of a perch!
