It was a beautiful day when Margaret Young, the Falconry Girl, brought her birds to Craighead House on July 12. Thank you to all the birders and info table volunteers for coming out to educate the community on ‘everything birds’, and supporting this exciting Craighead House major event!

I am impressed with how well this one was able to be recovered. Not sure what made it hazy like that. He's winking at you 😉 (also I'm pleased with the number of shots that came out pretty ok, considering I haven't touched a real camera in 5+ years and I jumped straight to shooting manual on a sunny day lolololol)

✅ Birds loaded
✅ The All Of The Stuff™️ loaded
✅ Trailer hooked up and checked over

Now for a quick jump in the shower and to bed… because when the event starts at 9AM, that means I have to be set up before then (takes about 1.5-2 hours when doing it solo), and the drive takes about 2 hours… that means I have to be up at 4:30AM. We’ll be hitting that coffee pot for sure!

For every display-style event I bring the birds to, there is about 4.5 hours of “behind the scenes” work (+ driving) related to that particular event (so, not counting day-to-day training and upkeep). Makes for some really long days, but it’s worth it!
