What if some of the mountains rising above our world aren’t mountains at all—but the remains of something that once lived?

Across the planet, strange flat-topped mesas, towering rock formations, and isolated monoliths have inspired an unusual theory: that some could be the petrified remains of enormous ancient trees, remnants of a world where life existed on a scale almost impossible to imagine today.

Geology explains these formations through processes such as erosion, volcanic activity, uplift, and the gradual removal of surrounding rock. There is no scientific evidence that mountain-sized trees ever existed.

But the resemblance continues to capture people’s imagination.

If trees once towered thousands of feet into the sky, what would remain after millions of years? Would we recognize their petrified stumps for what they were—or simply call them mountains?

What if the landscape itself is hiding the remains of a world we no longer remember?
