Our focus at Falcon Squadron 305 has always been the development and character building of our cadets. The cadets do a great job training each other, but the groundwork for development of our cadets is greatly enhanced when the seniors get involved. When senior members help in the training of our youth a bond and trust is formed that is beneficial to everyone.
This past weekend we took a hike in the Goldfield Mountains north of Apache Junction. There is a trailhead at the northern end of Meridian Rd. The Meridian Trail to Bulldog Saddle is one of many trails in this mountain range and is approx. 4 miles round trip with about 800 ft of elevation. Everyone was engaged in conversation from their favorite activities, stories of growing up with family members and of course wilderness training.
At the end of the hike, we as a team debriefed of what was important to carry on wilderness hikes and basic survive awareness.
This is what the Civil Air Patrol does, because we are people helping people to become better people. What could be better.

The Civil Air Patrol is thankful to Falcon Field Airport for many things. Our squadron is located here, a great community and it's annual open house just to name a few. It is located in Mesa Arizona and has a memorable history that starts in 1941 as an training base to train pilots for the second world war. Today it is the 6th busiest regional airport in the US and every spring time the city of Mesa has a celebration at the airport to remember it's history. This includes displays of classic cars and vintage aircraft, local businesses, law enforcement and fire services, food service and the Civil Air Patrol a local search and rescue volunteer organization along with many more.
The Civil Air Patrol had it's color guard to do the flag ceremony, a flight simulator, aircraft display and our food court.
Thank you for helping CAP squadron 305 to be a success and serving our community.

On Friday November 21st the Commemorative Air Museum in Mesa, Az held an Aviation event. An event that had something for every one who loves vantage aircraft, war artifacts, aviation clubs, conversations with aviators. A variety of clubs, schools and organizations were present including ASU School of Aviation, Boeing, MD Helicopters, Grand Canyon University, Gateway University, Falcon Field Airport along with the Civil Air Patrol's Squadron 305 and a variety of others. Don the curator of the museum stated that, "this event had it's best turn out yet due to it being close to the weekend". Rest assured I believe this event has secured a position for future events.
A special thanks to all of the CAP personal who attended to answer questions and man the ever popular flight simulator that includes Capt Dave Roden, Major Larry Schappa, Capt Mike Miller, Capt Larry Westbrook and Capt Dave Willard.
