The library is unfortunately closed today due to one librarian having car trouble and the other going to her sons first T-Ball game! In the meantime, please enjoy these pics from last night’s charcuterie workshop!! We had an amazing turnout, and Rylee did such an awesome job teaching us how to make beautiful edible creations! Thanks everyone for coming, and thank you, Rylee, for partnering with us for a great program!!

We had a record-breaking attendance for our first summer reading event - 43 kids!!! May not sound like much to larger libraries, but those in attendance can tell you it was madness 😂 Today we enjoyed cotton candy (which inspired my outfit!), made ice cream together (big thanks to Morgan Symens for lending us the ice cream makers!), experimented with candy and cola, made a Skittles rainbow, and did a few sweet crafts. Thank you to all who attended and helped, especially Samantha Levenhagen who is always the most creative and problem-solving partner in crime!

I’d also like to thank those who donated to our summer reading program through our Amazon wish list! Unfortunately, most of the donations didn’t come with notes, so please comment here if you donated something! The only ones I know for sure were Courtney Noelting, Julie Price, and Kathy Janeka - thank you all so much!! We appreciate our generous community ❤️💕

Tomorrow morning! We are going to be doing all the things: making cotton candy, making homemade ice cream, putting together a colorful Gummi Bear craft, and doing awesome science experiments including Mentos + Coke, Skittles rainbow, and a Pop Rocks sensory exploration! Plus of course prizes and Bingo sheets to take home and win more prizes!! See you at 10 🙂 🍬 🍭

We will be CLOSED tomorrow (Wednesday, May 27th) so our director can attend a training in Grimes! We are sorry for the inconvenience. Continuing education is super important - it helps our staff stay certified and our library remain accredited!

We can’t believe it, but well over half of our Amazon wishlist for summer reading program has been purchased, including ALL the books and the candy machine! You guys are amazing!!! If anyone is still interested in donating, we have some great craft supplies and prizes for our summer programs still left on the list. We give out a prize to every child in attendance at each event throughout the summer, and the kids can earn more prizes by completing their bingo sheets. There’s also some juice boxes still on the list (though we would take any kind of juice)! We are SO excited to kick off our “Reading is Sweet” summer program!!
