Save the date! EMS Region 2 Annual CE Conference is Back! Dec 2-4 at Town of Mesilla Community Center. We are working with our regional partners to provide 24 EMS CE hours for free, so watch this space for more information. Classes are being set up now, and I hope to have lunch and snacks provided for all 3 days. This should give everyone time to make sure their CE's are good to go before the March deadline.

We are proud to say that we have officially responded to more emergencies so far this year than we did all of last year....

We are proud to say that we have officially responded to more emergencies so far this year than we did all of last year. We are at a record 1222 for the year and counting, and just 5 years ago we averaged 500 a year. Every new incident this year will be a new record high. Why proud? Because this mostly volunteer department steps up and answers the call for help, doing it at call volumes that many paid departments don't have. It's a lot of work, but we do it for you. Thank you for the privilege of being able to help.

2 of our Lieutenants received their Red Helmets today! They have worked incredibly hard over the last year, primarily as Rescue Lieutenants, and have obtained all of their applicable fire certifications in addition to maintaining their paramedic licenses.

Congratulations to all of our new Mesilla Firefighters! Thank you to all of their families and Old Mesilla for their continued support.

Reminder that the Mesilla Fire Department and Mesilla Park Ace Hardware has home smoke alarms for those in need. Please reach out to us on this page or by calling the Fire Station. Good news: we have added the American Red Cross as a partner in this critical initiative! To Qualify:
Residents must:
• Live within the Town of Mesilla limits Use it in that residence
• Be unable to afford one Register with Community Connect
Optional Free Installation
Mesilla Fire Department personnel can install the detector for residents who request assistance.

4th of July Fireworks Safety reminders: Fireworks are only to be lit during the times of 10 am to 9pm, except on the 4th until 11 pm. Follow the directions on the package; for example, some fireworks say to light them no less than 150 feet from a building. Do NOT light fireworks in the streets or in the bosque along the Rio Grande. Any place you do light them, make sure you have permission, and you clean up after yourselves. Take care of your pets and children, be considerate of your neighbors, please be safe, and have a great 4th of July!

Please limit yourself to no more than 10 sandbags, as we need to ensure all residents who need sandbags are able to get them!
