J.R. Thompson Elementary

J.R. Thompson Elementary Welcome to Mesquite ISD's Thompson Elementary School. Jay Richards Thompson came to Mesquite to teach civics and history at Mesquite High School in 1960.

He served as assistant principal at Black Elementary and Range Elementary, and interim principal of Hanby Elementary. In 1966 he was named principal of Tosch Elementary, a job he held until his retirement in 1985. Thompson was a World War II veteran, a Pearl Harbor survivor, and exemplified true American patriotism. Thompson Elementary was opened in 1995

During lunch, students joined Ms. Washington to recap what we’ve learned during our first weeks of how we R.I.S.E. through CHAMPS and they were ready to share! From Respect and Impact to Self-Control and Excel, our Tigers are learning what it means to R.I.S.E. throughout the school day.
