FUEL CITY SPIRIT PUMP LAUNCHED TO SUPPORT MISD HIGH SCHOOLS!

Last week, we officially launched the Fuel City Spirit Pump at Fuel City Mesquite — and we couldn’t be more excited about this partnership.

Thanks to Fuel City's commitment to Making Dreams Come True, $0.05 from every gallon pumped at pumps #5 & #6 over the next six months will benefit Mesquite ISD’s six high schools. Each high school will have its own featured month, giving the community an easy way to fuel up and give back at the same time!

September is West Mesquite HS month! Every time you fill up at pumps #5 & #6 this month, you’re helping provide additional resources and opportunities for students and teachers at West!

Monthly Spirit Pump Schedule:
September 2026 – West Mesquite High School
October 2026 – North Mesquite High School
November 2026 – Mesquite High School
December 2026 – Horn High School
January 2027 – Poteet High School
February 2027 – Vanguard High School

We were honored to celebrate the launch alongside Fuel City CEO Joseph Bickham, Director of Fuel Sales Bobby Warren, Mesquite ISD Education Foundation President Tony Apel, MISD Superintendent Dr. Angel Rivera, and other MISD and Education Foundation leadership.

More Than a School Day!

We’re excited to announce a new Community Partnership with BJ's Wholesale Club to help Mesquite ISD elementary students make every school day count!

Beginning September 1, Mesquite ISD elementary students can earn monthly campus celebrations for perfect attendance—and those who keep it going all year can earn an end-of-year celebration!

This exciting initiative is made possible by a generous $22,500 gift from BJ's Wholesale Club supporting student attendance across Mesquite ISD elementary campuses.

Special thanks to BJ’s Wholesale Club Manager in Mesquite, Doug Noelle, for attending the August 10th MISD Board of Trustee meeting for a special check presentation and Community Partner recognition. BJ's Wholesale Club is a membership-based warehouse retailer offering everyday savings on groceries, household essentials, and more. Opening in Fall 2026, their new Mesquite club will be at located at Galloway Ave. and Interstate-30 at 4355 Childress Avenue Mesquite, TX 75150.

We’re so excited about the Enhancing Student Learning Through Screen Printing Campus Grant the Foundation funded at Vanguard High School this year!

This innovative program gives students real-world experiences while developing workforce-ready skills that prepare them to determine their own future.

Congratulations to Kaden Montes, a senior at Vanguard High School, on being selected as the recipient of the Hubert & Georgia Rossin Scholarship!

Established by former Mesquite ISD Superintendent Dr. David Vroonland and his wife, Joy, this scholarship honors Hubert and Georgia Rossin, whose loving foster home helped shape Dr. Vroonland's life and future.

Inspired by the belief that every child deserves a supportive and caring home, this scholarship recognizes the lasting impact that foster parents and caregivers have on the lives of children.

We are proud to recognize Kaden as this year's recipient and wish him continued success at the University of North Texas next year!

Big initiatives and big impact are ahead for Florence Black Elementary!

The Calm Down Den Campus Grant will enhance student learning through our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program, with the goal of positively impacting key areas identified in our Panorama data. Grant funds will be used to create a dedicated “Calm Down Den” on our campus.

The You Belong Here House System Innovation Grant will provide lasting resources to sustain and grow their House System for years to come. By investing in durable materials, incentives, and resources, this grant will ensure that the House System continues to foster a sense of belonging, student engagement, and a positive school culture well into the future.
