🐈-Furry Reminder: The Jefferson Parish Library offers 24/7 access to Pet Microchip Scanners at seven (7) of our library branches on the East and West Bank. In partnership with Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services and the Jefferson SPCA , the Pet Microchip Scanners, (located outside of the library branches), can help scan a lost pet anytime day or night and reunite them with their owner. See video. The following library branches offer Pet Microchip Scanners (more locations to be added):
- East Bank Regional,
- River Ridge,
- Old Metairie,
- Rosedale,
- North Kenner,
- West Bank Regional,
- Westwego.

The Jefferson Parish Library celebrates the academic achievements of four library staff members who recently earned their Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degrees! Congratulations to Isabella Bodin, Asrael Bourgeois, Paris Hughes and Michael Scott! Thank you to The Friends of the Jefferson Public Library who sponsored the celebration! Friends’ Vice President, Rose Catalanatto, and Library Board President, Patricia Cox opened the celebration, followed by Library Director, Jessica Styons, who awarded the recipients with a certificate of achievement and Jefferson Parish , COO, Cherreen Gegenheimer, who awarded the recipients with a certificate of merit to the applause of their enthusiastic peers.

The advanced degree, accredited by the American Library Association , equips students with knowledge and skills in cataloging, digital libraries, information organization, data management, research methods, and user services.

Congratulations again to our accomplished library staff! We are proud of you!

New Orleans harpist Patrice Fisher and other members of the New Orleans Chapter of the American Harp Society will present a concert on Sunday, August 30, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the East Bank Regional Library (4747 West Napoleon Avenue in Metairie). This free performance features performers of all ages. Registration is not required.

The Office of U.S. Representative Troy A. Carter, Sr. recently hosted a special Passport Acceptance Event with the U.S. Department of State: Consular Affairs and The Louisiana Department of Health (Vital Records) at the West Bank Regional Library.

The event was well attended, and patrons were incredibly thankful for the short wait time, the staff’s knowledge, no downtown parking fees and having federal and state departments onsite to ensure a quick, easy and smooth process.

At the Jefferson Parish Library, fun/la alegría needs no translation. Our T-Rex Tea Time at the North Kenner Library last month brought the community together for a joyful occasion among patrons of all ages and a neighborly dinosaur.
