Grace King High School

Grace King High School Fighting Irish in Metairie, LA Grace King High School is a public high school located in Metairie, unincorporated Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.

It is a part of the Jefferson Parish Public Schools and serves portions of Metairie and Kenner. Grace King was built in the late 1960s as a high school, opening its doors in 1968 as an all-girls public school serving Jefferson Parish; remaining so until the 1980s, when it became co-ed. The school, which now serves Grades 9-12, is a part of the Jefferson Parish Public Schools system. The school ser

ves unincorporated portions of Jefferson Parish and a portion of the city of Kenner. The school's mascot is Lucky the (Fighting Irish) Leprechaun, and the school colors are hunter green, white, and gold. During Hurricane Katrina, the school suffered damage to its gymnasium's roof, and housed a National Guard troop until the school reopened in October 2005.

Glimpses of Grace King: Our GK hero always has a smile, a bookbag, and a willingness to help. Mr. Flannery's official listing is substitute teacher; however, we know that he truly is a cherished GK Guardian of the KINGdom. All of his salary is used to fund scholarships to the graduating class. This year Mr. Flannery awarded thirteen seniors with scholarships. We are forever grateful to Mr. Flannery.
