New State Fish Record!! Jeff Tomaloff (on right) was fishing in the Gulf of America out of Venice, La with a Madd Mantis Popper when he hooked up with a giant Yellowfin Tuna. Back at Cypress Cove Marina, the scales went way up to 256.12 lbs. Jeff submitted an application that was approved. the big fish qualified as a new state record according to Lyle Johnson, our State Fish records curator. Tomaloff hails from Vero Beach, Fla. Congrats for a new state record!!

LOWA presented the Fish of the Year awards tonight during the Zoom video conference awards' ceremony. Congratulations to Jim E. Johnson and Cole Thurman! Jim nabbed the fly fishing FOY award with his 1.64 Chain Pickerel caught in Cocodrie Lake out of Forest Hill. Bradley Cole Thurman of Meadow Lakes, Tx won the Rod and Reel division with a 106.20 Black Grouper caught out of Port Fourchon La. This is a new state record. Please join us in congratulating Jim and Cole!

We are sad to report the passing of former LOWA Vice President and member, Mike Lane. Mike was truly at the forefront of digital outdoors media. Before many people had even heard of the internet, Mike was putting together his signature website RodNReel.com. Mike was an innovator and friend to many in the outdoor community.
