Historic Old Town Hall, Village of Metamora

Historic Old Town Hall, Village of Metamora Since 1888, the hall has been used as a place for community gatherings. Today, the OTH is a centerpiece for activities and available for rent.

The Old Township Hall (built in 1888) has been the scene for many dances, plays, graduations and school entertainments, including indoor sports! According to the Metamora Historical Society, "It seemed destined to be stripped of its character or demolished as the Metamora Township Board struggled to meet rising maintenance costs." In 1979, the Board chose to turn the little building over to the ne

wly formed Metamora Historical Society and a major restoration project began. Thanks to the inspiration of the community and the many volunteer workers, the building was brought back to life. The restored hall now sits as an integral part of the life of the Village. It has been preserved as a very important player in Metamora's History. Today the Metamora Historical Society (MHS) remains active by hosting fundraisers and being an integral part of the various events within the Village including Metamora Country Days and Celebration of the Horse. The MHS Board also promotes the renting of the hall for special events and/or personal family activities. The cost to rent the hall for one day is $150. If you have a unique, on-going use of the hall, such as weekly classes or community related events, the board may be able to set-up a special fee.
