Today, Thursday, May 14, 2026, Chief McNamara and Captain James Moore proudly spearheaded the annual Police Officer Memorial Service on behalf of the men and women of the Police Department during Police Memorial Week.
During this solemn and meaningful ceremony, we honored the memory of all deceased members of the Methuen Police Department, as well as the brave law enforcement officers throughout our nation who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their courage, dedication, and commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten.
As part of a newer tradition that has quickly become a valued part of this annual service, Chief McNamara also recognized and celebrated this year’s Methuen Police Department retirees: Lt. James Gunter, Sgt. Derek Licata, and Officer Aaron Little.
Each of these men leaves behind a legacy of honorable service, professionalism, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the Methuen community. Their careers have been marked by countless accomplishments, strong character, and a commitment to serving others with integrity and pride.
We extend our sincere gratitude for their years of service and wisdom, and we wish Lt. Gunter, Sgt. Licata, and Officer Little many years of happiness, health, and fulfillment in retirement.
