A quick update from your District 5 Councillor: Today, I underwent surgery to have my gallbladder removed. I wanted to let everyone know the procedure went smoothly and I am recovering well. While I am on the mend, I will continue to be engaged in the day-to-day business of the Governor’s Council and look forward to being fully back in action very soon.

The 250th festivities continued this week, and I was honored to help kick off the 20th anniversary of the "Old-Fashioned 4th of July" at Lawrence Heritage State Park.

The celebration was wonderful, featuring music, food, and raffles. Local artist Sheryl Faye also did a masterful job portraying Abigail Adams. Check out her website for a listing of her shows or to book her for a community event visit https://sherylfaye.com

Thank you to the Friends of the Lawrence Heritage State Park for organizing such thoughtful programs for our community to enjoy. The visitors center is open Sunday - Saturday: 9:00 am-4:00 pm. Happy 250th Birthday, America! In honor of this milestone, the Council convened for hearings last week at the Old State House.

It was a privilege to chair a session in the same chamber where the original 22-member Governor’s Council once met, just feet away from the balcony where the Declaration of Independence was first read to the nation. While the Council looks very different 250 years later, we remain committed to our charge of stewarding the foundation of our judicial system.

If you have not yet visited the Old State House museum, I highly recommend that you to do so. The staff at Revolutionary Spaces do a fantastic job curating exhibits that keep our history alive.
