Hunter Safety Course offered to Massac County students Friday, March 13, 2026 from 6:00-9:00pm through Saturday, March 14, 2026 8:00-3:00pm at the Massac County Fairgrounds located at 4476 Korte Rd, Metroplis, IL 62960.

To register:
1. Navigate to www.register-ed.com
2. Select IL from the menu
3. Click the View upcoming events button to the right of the Hunter Safety Course section
4. Enter our 62960 zip code
5. Locate the event held at the Massac County Fairgrounds and click the View event button
6. Click the green Register now button to register for this course.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Massac Unit 1 schools will be back in regular session Monday, February 2, 2026. Buses will run where possible. If you have any questions, please contact your bus driver. If you do not feel comfortable sending your student to school tomorrow, please contact your school's office in the morning. Massac Unit 1 will excuse student absences due to unsafe road conditions Monday.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our roads are almost ready, but there are still several gravel and paved roads in the county and several side streets in Metropolis and Brookport that are not safe enough for school bus travel.

Due to hazardous road conditions, Massac Unit 1 Schools will be closed on Friday, January 30, 2026. The district will implement an E-Learning Day. Students should have received instructions regarding their E-Learning activities from their classroom teachers. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or building administrator.

We plan to be back in regular session Monday, February 2, 2026.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate your continued support.

Unfortunately, our roads did not improve as much today as we had hoped. There are still several gravel roads in the county and side streets in Metropolis that are not safe enough for school bus travel.

Due to hazardous road conditions, Massac Unit 1 Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 29, 2026. The district will implement an E-Learning Day. Students should have received instructions regarding their E-Learning activities from their classroom teachers. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or building administrator.

We will re-evaluate the situation tomorrow as we make a decision regarding school for Friday. If we are able to return to in-person learning Friday, we will have a full day of school, Friday January 30, 2026 instead of the planned student half day.

We will re-evaluate the situation tomorrow as we make a decision regarding school for Thursday. If we are able to return to in-person learning Thursday and/or Friday, we will have a full day of school on Friday January 30, 2026 instead of the planned student half day.
