Our department is comprised of 16 full time police officers, 5 Sergeants, 8 Patrol Officers, 1 Detective, four telecommunicators, one admin assistant, 1 part time evidence/vault custodian, 2 part time dispatchers, 1 animal control and our canine, Krypto.

👮 DEPUTY SHERIFF — MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Be at least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Illinois driver’s license or eligibility to obtain one
• Meet applicable ILETSB requirements
• No disqualifying felony convictions or other disqualifying criminal history
• Successfully complete the background investigation and required pre-employment screening
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
• Strong communication, judgment, integrity, and commitment to public service

📞 DISPATCHER / TELECOMMUNICATOR — MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum age of 18
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license or eligibility to obtain one
• Successful completion of a background investigation
• No disqualifying criminal history
• Strong communication and computer skills
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
• Successful completion of required training and pre-employment screening
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime

🔒 DEPUTY JAILER / CORRECTIONS OFFICER — MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum age of 18
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license or eligibility to obtain one
• No disqualifying felony convictions or other criminal history
• Successful completion of a background investigation
• Successful completion of required training and pre-employment screening
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism in difficult situations
• Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime

Samuel M Cullison,38, Massac, was arrested in the 900 block of E. 5th and charged with DUI, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

August 17, 2026
Joel A. Altman was stopped in the 1100 block of E. 8th St and charged with driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and no valid registration.

Austin C. Burnham,32, Metropolis was arrested in the 400 block of Butler and charged with FTA-Burglary, theft, and 2 counts of criminal damage to property. He was also charged with resisting/obstructing arrest.

Elvira R. Meyers,44, Metropolis was arrested on 10th and Catherine. She was wanted on a warrant for FTA-possession of Methamphetamine and passion of drug paraphernalia.

Jordyn A. Smith, 25, Metropolis was arrested on E. 5th and Butler. He was wanted on a charge of FTA-Burglary and Theft.

Brian E. Lewis, 61, Metropolis was arrested on 11th and Market. He was charged with driving while license suspended and possession of Methamphetamine.

Yong G Park,56, Federal Way, WA was charged with speeding and driving while license suspended on E. 5th and E. 8th St.

Dwight E. Roach,43, Metropolis was arrested on E. 8th and Butler. Charged with FTA- Possession of Methamphetamine and also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.

Brooklyn A Jackson, 18, Paducah, KY was arrested on 7th and Butler. Charged with DUI, Disobey traffic control signal and other charges.

August 21, 2026
Natasha N. Drain,31, Metropolis was stopped on E. 5th and E. 8th St. She was charged with driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle with suspended registration.

Brandon A. Morrison,39, Metropolis was arrested on E. 15th and Filmore. Charged with Driving while license suspended and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.

Madison C. Wallace, 19, Helena MT was stopped on W. 12th and McCrary. She was charged with underage DUI (Zero Tolerance) and other traffic.

Jonathan W. Bonds,41, Smithland, KY was arrested for Violation of an order of protection at the City Library.

Michael D. Brown, 32, Cypress, IL was stopped on 11th and Pearl. He was charged with driving while license suspended and operation of a motor vehicle with suspended registration.

Mason G Crittendon,29, Massac, was arrested at the Family Dollar Store and charged with Burglary, Possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Daisy L. Dowden, 45, Joppa was charged with driving while license suspended after being stopped on US 45 N near Doug Sumner Lane.

Bryan A Brewington,40, Massac Co, was arrested on the Ft Massac boat ramp. He wa wanted on a Massac Co warrant for FTA- DWL Revoked.

August 26, 2026
Ryan L. Dutton,34, Metropolis was stopped on W. 8th and Pearl. He was arrested and charged with DUI, Speeding (57/35), DUI with a BAC of .08 or greater, illegal transportation of open alcohol, and other traffic charges.

Daniel M. Lawrence,47, Metropolis was arrested and the Metropolis Elementary School and charged with Criminal Trespass to Property.

Joshua K. Hunt,43, Metropolis was arrested on Crestview Dr. He was wanted on a Massac County warrant for FTA- Driving with suspended registration. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Andrea M. Travis, 35, Metropolis was arrested on McCrary St and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and resisting/obstructing arrest.

Jonathan T. Troutt,24, Joppa was arrested in the alley in the 1800 block of Helm. He was wanted on a Massac County warrant for FTA-Suspended Registration.

Danny L. Hertter,62, Metropolis was arrested in the 700 block of E. 9th St. and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and, driving while license suspended and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. He was also wanted on a Massac County warrant for FTA-DUI and driving while license suspended.

Luis U. Saavedra,23, Paducah, KY was arrested on I-24 at MP 38 and charged with DUI, DUI with a BAC of .08 or greater, Leaving the scene of a traffic crash and other traffic charges.

Amanda G Cozzie,38, Metropolis was arrested on 8th St near Scott. She was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County for FTA-Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Sherident J. Miller,26, Paducah was arrested on an active body attachment warrant issued by Massac County on E. 15tha and Ferry St.

Odaisha M. Short, 32, Mt. Carmel IL was arrested on the 1100 block of E.8th St. She was wanted on a Massac County warrants for FTA-Delivery of a controlled substance and attempting to smuggle contraband into a penal institution.

Frank B. Leonard,37, Massac Co, was arrested in the 1400 block of E. 5th St. He was charged with Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful possession of a firearm.

Misti L. Shepherd,42, Metropolis was arrested in the 1400 block of E. 5th and charged with Possession of a controlled substance. She was also wanted on a Massac County warrant for FTA-Possession of a controlled substance.
