The Candler County Probate Court mourns the loss of our longtime court-appointed county administrator and county guardian, Danny Olliff. Danny quietly served this unsung yet vital role for decades. He often stood in as the guardian of last resort for under-served minors and represented difficult estates when no one else was able to. His humble service was admired by other counties who struggled to find a capable attorney willing to take on this necessary but thankless task. We honor his long-time contribution to the citizens of Candler County and to the Candler County Probate Court. Our grateful prayers are with his family and friends.

On July 4, 1968 Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fine donated a cast replica of the Liberty Bell to the people of Candler County "In Honor of the Greatness of America". Then on July 4, 1990 after it was discovered that the original Sam Fine bell was cracked, Dewberry and Ethel Edenfield donated a replacement bell in honor of R.C. and Naomi Edenfield.

How will voting work in the runoff election?

Generally the same in the primary election with a few differences.

If you did vote in the primary, you can vote in the runoff but you will have to pick the same ballot type. For example, if you picked a Republican ballot, you will have to vote with a Republican ballot in the runoff. Same thing for Democrat. If you voted nonpartisan in the primary, you can choose either Democrat or Republican in the runoff.
If you did not vote in the primary, you can still vote in the runoff if you are registered to vote. You will be able to choose between a Republican or Democrat ballot.
For early voting, you can cast your ballot at any early voting location in the county you are registered to vote in.
On Election Day, you will have to vote at your voting precinct. The last day to request an absentee ballot: Friday, June 5th.

Why is there a runoff election?

In Georgia, any race — local or statewide — where a candidate does not get more than 50% of the vote, automatically triggers a runoff with the two candidates who had the most votes.

You can check your sample ballot online.

To do so:

Go to mvp.sos.ga.gov.
To login, you will need to enter the first initial of your name, your last name, county you are registered to vote in and date of birth.
Then scroll until you see “View My Sample Ballot.”
If you voted in primary election either Republican or Democrat, you will only see the ballot type of the party you voted with. You will be able to choose between Democratic Sample Ballot or Republican Sample Ballot if you voted nonpartisan in the primary election or did not vote in the primary election.

You will see your precinct information, including name, address and directions.

Following the May primary election, voters will once again head to the polls to finalize who will be on the November general election ballot.
