Be advised that the Portal highway (CR223) will be closed on or about June 10, 2026, for a bridge replacement project conducted by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). The closure may extend as long as 12 months. Please adhere to safety and detour signage.

🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE 🚨

Candler County Emergency Management is partnering with Bulloch County EMA and the Tri-County 911 Center on a new AED registration initiative.

Beginning July 1, Georgia’s new AED legislation will help 911 dispatchers identify nearby Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) during cardiac emergencies. The goal is simple — get lifesaving equipment to people faster when every second matters.

We are asking businesses, churches, schools, gyms, industries, organizations, and community groups across Candler County to register any AEDs they may have in their facilities or vehicles.

The information will be accessible to 911 dispatchers and emergency responders to improve emergency response throughout our area.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice protects the freedoms we cherish. The Candler County Board of Commissioners encourages all residents to pause and remember the heroes who never returned home. We are forever grateful for their courage and devotion.
