Hello Metuchen residents and visitors. Please keep in mind that our trucks need continuous access into and out of the building, so please do not block the garage doors at the Metuchen Fire House. We've had several instances lately where our crews were unable to get back inside. Thank you for your consideration!

Did you know that we refill our own portable oxygen tanks? Thanks to our oxygen transfill system that was designed to transfer oxygen from larger tanks, we can stay on top of our oxygen supply!

This Memorial Day, the members of Metuchen EMS stand with our community to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

While our crews remain on duty today, ready to answer the call for Metuchen 24/7, we take time to reflect on the true meaning of this day. We owe our deepest gratitude to the heroes who gave everything to protect our freedoms.

If you are heading out to spend the day with family, please stay safe, look out for one another, and join us in keeping our fallen service members and their families in your hearts.

This morning 2 of our ambulances along with multiple JFK units responded to aid in fire rehab and patient transport for the tanker fire on 287. Please avoid the area as operations continue.

Emergency officials are responding to a massive fuel tanker fire on Route 287 between Exits 1 and 2, right on the border of Edison and Metuchen. Both the northbound and southbound lanes of 287 are shut down at this time.

I am on scene and in communication with Governor Mikie Sherrill, Edison Mayor Sam Joshi, OEM officials, and first responders as crews continue to battle the blaze involving a tanker carrying approximately 8,800 gallons of fuel.

Route 27 between Vineyard Road and Bridge Street is also closed and traffic is being diverted. More than 150 firefighters and mutual aid personnel are on scene. At this time, at least four injuries have been reported.
