✨ BEHIND THE BUSINESS – JUNE 2026 SPOTLIGHT ✨

We're proud to spotlight a true Mexia tradition — Lightsey Farms, operated by sisters Mary Lightsey and Lisa Lightsey Hadden! 🍑🚜

🌱 Three Generations of Farming
Lightsey Farms has been a family operation for three generations. The farm's legacy began with their grandfather and continued with their father, who was born on the farm in 1928. Today, Mary and Lisa proudly carry on that tradition, preserving a farming heritage that has served Texans for more than a century.

🍑 More Than Just Peaches
While Lightsey Farms is best known for its peaches, the farm also grows a variety of fruits and vegetables throughout the season. With more than 20 varieties of peaches and a commitment to innovation, the family continues to adapt to changing conditions while maintaining the quality customers have trusted for so many years.

🏅 Recognized Across Texas
For generations, the Lightsey name has become synonymous with quality produce. They’ve been featured on Dallas Fort Worth’s “edible”, the Houston Chronicle, the Texas Farm Bureau, and are partners with the Texas Department of Agriculture Go Texan program.

🚛 Fresh From Mexia to Texas
Located in the Heart of Texas, Lightsey Farms is uniquely positioned to serve Dallas, Houston, Waco, Austin, San Antonio, and beyond while maintaining the freshness and quality that make their produce stand out. You can find Mary and the Lightsey Farms team at many farmers markets throughout the state.

🌾 Why They Love What They Do
For Mary, one of the most rewarding parts of farming is working outdoors and watching crops grow from seed to harvest. The opportunity to cultivate new varieties and work closely with the land has helped the farm remain a staple of the Mexia community.

👩‍🌾 A Family Commitment
Mary and Lisa love calling Mexia home. Mary works full-time on the farm, while Lisa balances her work at the farm and her other passion for teaching. Together, they continue a proud family tradition built on hard work, dedication, and a commitment to providing quality produce.

🕗 Visit Lightsey Farms Today
The Open Air Market is in full swing! Stop by at 2033 FM 1365, Mexia, TX 76667. Open 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, seven days a week through October.

👏 Thank You, Mary and Lisa!
We are grateful for businesses like Lightsey Farms that preserve our agricultural heritage, support our local economy, and proudly represent Mexia across Texas. Thank you for helping keep our farming traditions alive for future generations.

Their sacrifice made our freedoms, communities, and opportunities possible. On this Memorial Day, we pause to reflect with gratitude and respect for those who never made it home.
