Here we go, Mexico Beach!

Information about "The Al Cathey Municipal Pier".

We have officially crossed a final major hurdle! The funds have been formally obligated to the State of Florida and will be reimbursed to the City of Mexico Beach, clearing the way for construction to begin.
This is a tremendous milestone and an exciting step forward for our community. After all the hard work, persistence, and patience, we are finally moving to construction planning. Stand by for more updates over the next few months.

Pier Update: By now you all know we have received our Army Corps permit, which was the last of the major hurdles on the permitting side of the project. As for FEMA, the project is in LPN (Large Project Notification), which is the final review and notification. The review part is now complete, so all that is left is the notification part of the project. We were told that will take about 2 weeks. At that point FEMA obligates the funds to the State of Florida, which handles disbursement to the City.

A big thank you to Scott Mixon and the Duke Energy Foundation Local Resiliency Grant Program for awarding the City a $25,000 grant!

This funding will help our Utilities Department upgrade one of our chlorination stations from a liquid system to a gas system, improving efficiency and increasing the reliability of our operations.

We truly appreciate Duke Energy’s investment in our community and their continued support in helping us strengthen our infrastructure for the future!
